“Very nice setting, nasty tasting wines”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

You can't really see the winery from the 190 Highway, so it was a nice surprise to see a set of newish buildings set into a grove of Live Oaks. Greeted with a "we do it differently here" Table tasting style. Gorgeous patio setting with fairly good service. I didn't see the Golden Retreiver from below comments. There was a Male/Female Austin Country Duo for live music (she had a great voice) to top off the scene.

Wines were universally nasty tasting. I chose the Sweet Wine Flight... each one got nastier. Finished it off with a Hurricane something or other red. All tasted sharp, nasty and like expired vinegar. Wow, what a contrast between the lovely setting and what tasted like Walmart Wine Making kits that someone forgot to bring inside.
Cheese plate was expensive (16$) but yummy.

“Wine Tasting on a Veranda Overlooking the Vineyard”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

We have enjoyed everytime that we stop for a tasting at Woodrose! The wine is very good (the Tempernillo is my personal favorite), the service is very good and friendly. We enjoy sitting on the veranda overlooking the vineyard while tasting the wines.

“Springtime”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

We were in a group of 8 and visited this winery on a beautiful spingtime afternoon. We sat out on a very nice deck and the entertainment was the best we heard all day. The waiter was very nice and tried to be as helpful as he could. That is where the positives end. The wine was horrible. We bought the 6 tastings each. After only 3, which we barely tasted and poured out, whe left. We couldn't face another drop

“Nice tasting room but wine is terrible”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Woodrose has a very nice tasting expereince...you can sit at a table and be served. It is not rushied and very relaxing. There were four of us tasting and we did three red flights and one MIke's flight, which was a mixture of white and red. We poured most of the wine out and couldn't believe we wasted a total of $28 on this tasting. The wine was very tart and many of them tasted like vinegar. There was also a very large dog roaming the tasting room which was a little strange.

“Great wine tasting in a comfortable setting.”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

The area around Fredericksburg, TX is well known for some superb wines and wineries that offer tastings. Woodrose is one of our favorites, especially is you've been to a few where you stand at a counter and pay for the privilege of tasting two drams of the promoted wines. Woodrose is quite different. The tasting room is set up with tables and the staff bring you the wines you have selected to taste. In nice weather, there is a lovely terrace in the back where you can enjoy the tasting or if one in particular meets your fancy, you can order a glass and just relax. They also offer a cheese and meat plate with crackers and fruit, a superb way to relax and get to know their wines. The owners dog, is a sweetheart and gets more than his fair share of cheese. We have brought home many of their wines to enjoy back in New York, and look forward to our next visit. BTW if there is a wine that is not part of your tasting, but you would like to taste it anyway, just ask, the staff is very accommodating.
