If you don't mind literally having people you don't know in your camping area this is fine. But if you want ANY privacy go somewhere else. The price is good, but they don't have enough room for the amount of people they allow to camp there. Not to mention the bathrooms were nasty when we went to leave on Sunday.

Room Tip: If you want ANY privacy go somewhere else!

I usually camp near the Gruene area but the family wanted to try something different. I made reservations @ Guadalupe Canoe & Camping. We arrived and were taken to our camping area. It was fairly busy for a Friday night.

We set up camp and settled in for the night. There were several campers in the area that were loud. Not really a problem. As the night went on some of these campers got louder and more worked up. At about 2 am people start asking them to settle down. This only served to make them louder. They also started using extremely bad language. I had children with me as did a lot of the other campers.

Other campers were arriving way into the early hours and they seemed to join in on the aggressive behavior being displayed by the original loud campers. I went to find someone that worked for the camp ground or security but no one was around.

It wasn't until close to 6 am that it became quiet enough to get some sleep. The next day started off the same way. Some of the "drunk" campers started walking around the camp looking into peoples tents.

We decided to take a float trip down the river and rented some tubes for the trip. I was told at the time of the reservations that we would be taken upriver and dropped of to make the trip back to camp. Instead they told us to get in at camp and get out at teh second bridge. The tubes that they brought down for us were small. Not the usual size most other companies rent for the trips. They were also in pretty bad shape. One of them started leaking several minutes into the trip.

When we reached the exit location we called GCC to let them know we were out. We were told to walk up the bridge and wait. We waited for 30 minutes and had to call again. This was very uncomfortable after a 4 hour trip in the sun and having to sit on side of the road.

When Stephen Spielberg created “The River” for ABC television, he saw a river bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that rivers bring life, they “roll along”, with always an adventure beckoning from around the bend. Standing on the banks of the Guadalupe, beside the long-time owners of Guadalupe Canoe Livery, Mike and Linda Clark, relaxed and welcome at their campfire and in their hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate as we have had for over thirty years, canoeing on an ever-changing and glorious Guadalupe River.

Went for a weekend campout & tube float 6/13-14. I don't camp very often, so keep that in mind. Hot but very shady. Did ok with fan. Have to lug stuff to camp site, no drive in at all. Park at top and walk down to camp site. Camp site was very clean. 2 port-a-potties at top of hill. Building with shower about another 50 feet walk. 1 shower, 2 restroom stalls in this building, not big but clean. Camping was short distance from water.

Tubing I am sure would have probably been good, but water was low, so what should have been about a 2-3 hour leisure float was 4-5 hours of physical work over a lot of rocks. Be sure to ask if the water is up, if not, wait til it is.

Overall we had fun. Take LOTS of sunscreen.
