“The Best of South Padre”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

The Cafe is located on the beach on the Gulf side of the island and is at the back of the Palm Resort, which is really a small hotel on the beach.

The Cafe seats 30 at the most, with exclusively outdoor seating in a covered patio environment. The marguerites were outstanding, and only $3.50 during Happy hour (2:00 - 6:00 every day). The staff was uniformly friendly, helpful and professional.

The chicken tortilla soup was fantastic, and the fired shrimp, red snapper, and oysters were as good as we have ever had anywhere. We had dinner there twice and would go again if we had another day on the island.

“Great place to watch the kite boarders and eat good food”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

We discovered this cafe while visiting our son and his group of kite-boarding friends from CA. They travel to TX for the sun and wind in Nov. We stay with our son and daughter-in-law in their condo. When they do a down-winder we like to get close to the gulf to watch them sail by. The Palms cafe is the perfect spot. The food is good, the staff friendly and there is a great view. We took our son last year (when there was no wind). He enjoyed it and now many of their friends come to the Palms too.

“Surprise, Surprise”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

I've been visiting South Padre for a few years and can never really find a good dinning experience. I had walked by this place many times and just thought it to be another beach bar. It's got a great menu and a great view. We went in for happy hour (4 to 6, I think) and got "peel your own shrimp" and fish tacos. I got a happy hour marg, and for a 3 dollar marg, it was great! This is a good place to get away from the party vibe, enjoy someones company, have a wonderful view of the ocean, and eat some good food. Thumbs up to the service, and the whole experience.
