Owner description: This nature center is a voice for dolphins wild and free, we do not keep them in captivity. We do have DAILY BOAT tours to take you out to meet them. Our facility has touch tanks and marine exhibits to help all who visit understand how we can help save our oceans. Our boats still go to meet our dolphins when the large tours do not have enough people to go we go for just four people

“Loved it!!!”

My future husband and I had a great time! We learned interesting facts about dolphins and just seeing the dolphins in their natural habitat was awesome! I really suggest taking this dolphin tour!

“"Rozzi" the dolphin spotting dog was best part of trip.”
Reviewed September 27, 2012 via mobile

Small group, dolphin watching, boat tour offered via the "Sea life center". Captain Scarlet clearly loves dolphins and all things nature-oriented about the coast. Very eco-minded. She knows most of the dolphins by name (based on markings/shape of the fins?). Her dog "Rozzi" comes along, and hears (?) the dolphins under water. Wherever he's looking is where they usually appear. 1 & 1/2 hour tour in Laguna Madre. Unfortunately we did not see many dolphins on my tour - they must have been elsewhere. That's the risk you take when dealing with nature, but Scarlet did tell us about dolphins, and we saw several varieties of coastal birds on the trip. Since it was a small group, you could ask questions as we went along - which was nice. Helpful hint: boat departs from dock about 1-2 miles from Sea life center, and there's no restroom at dock, so allow time for a "potty break" before you get on the boat.

“Lovely people who love dolphins!”
Reviewed September 25, 2012 via mobile

This is our second time to do a dolphin tour with this group. Today with Scarlett, and two years ago with her husband George. I would never do a tour with any other group in SPI. They are a wonderful couple with a passion for dolphins and we love supporting them! It is a really personal experience in a small boat with no more than six people. Both times we saw dolphins and they approached our boat--what a thrill!! Scarlett (and her dog Rozzie) were very patient with our two small children, one of which was a little cranky as one year olds tend to be. I also loved that Scarlett pointed out other wildlife in the area. She obviously has a love for the Laguna Madre and its inhabitants. A very affordable price for such a fun time, too.

We also love the little sea life center. Our kids enjoy the touch tanks and all of the fun fish and other critters. A great place to pass an hour with the little ones and support the rescue and research they are doing. The volunteer working when we went spent a ton of time with our little ones. You can't beat holding a sea star and a spider crab when you're three years old. Our kids loved it.

Support this group, you won't be sorry!

“Local Gem”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

We were shopping in the lighthouse square when we saw the Sealife Center. We originally thought it was just another souvenir shop, until we went inside. For a $3 donation, we got a personalized tour of the many sealife habitats and the sealife in each habitat. The staff was very knowledgeable of each of the species displayed, the displays were clean and well-maintained. It was the week after Labor Day when we visited, so it was slower. I'm sure the personal tour was probably not the norm of it was busy season, but we loved it. This is a must stop for families with small children.

“Wonderful!”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

There were 5 of us in our party and it was so relaxing not having to worry about other people and making room. There was plenty of space for us to move around and follow the dolphins as they came up. We had Captain George instead of Scarlett and we really enjoyed it! He told us great stories and worked hard to find the dolphins for us. The 15 year old and 10 year old in our group loved his dog Gorgi! She was sitting on the boat when we came up welcoming us aboard! So cute! We had a little trouble at first finding the dolphins but we weren't disappointed. You can't make dolphins in nature come whenever you call them. That is unreasonable. But we found a small pod. Even a baby with it's mom. Would we have loved for them to be closer or do big tricks? Sure...but this isn't Sea World. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and look forward to doing it again next year!
