Description: About Us Dirty Al’s has been in operation since 1986 and has always provided the freshest seafood to thousands of visitors from all over the world. As a family owned and operated business, we have always taken great pride in taking care of each customer and providing them with a unique experience that they can only get from eating at Dirty Al’s. Dirty Al promises every customer that they will only be served the absolute freshest seafood caught in the wild off the Gulf of Mexico. A Father and his Sons Make a Great Team! Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 6 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.

My father discovered Dirty Al's 8 years ago when our whole family was vacationing at SPI. It is our Favorite Seafood restaurant and its the 1st restaurant we stop at every summer we go back.

We went twice this summer and it was Fantastic. The taste is superb, but the size of the shrimp is what gets us every time. The fried fish, which is flounder, is absolutely delicious! On a side note the fried mushrooms are incredible and that bottle of wing sauce, that's on the table, is amazing! Dirty Al is the King of Shrimp!

The food here was amazing. They claim to have the best fried shrimp in the world, and I would not disagree with them. We visited on a Monday for dinner, and it was not too busy. We sat in the back room and had a beautiful view of the water. Our waiter was very good, and the food was great, especially the fried food. I would highly recommend the fried shrimp, fried fish, fried calamari, and fried pickles. We will definitely be back the next time we go to SPI.

The restaurant is a dive, but the food was really good. Mostly fried foods, and the service was slow, but we enjoyed what we ordered. With two picky kids, it isn't always easy to please everyone, but we all liked the food we ordered.

Seafood is fresh and the portions are large. Assorted platter available. It's the best in the island, probably in the Valley area.

We didn't actually eat there so I cannot say anything about the food. We were seated and waited at least 20 minutes before getting drink orders in, another 10 minutes to get a few glasses of water and a few sodas. Then nothing for 20 more minutes. The place was filthy and smelled terrible. We found our "waitress" who barely spoke English and expressed that we were leaving due to lack of service. She slammed our ticket on the table for the one sodas we ordered. So $5 and an hour later we left hungry. The place wasn't very busy so we were confused as to why the lack of service. We weren't the only ones, the table behind us was having similar issues.
