“Great option when the weather is cold”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

We arrived to SPI Saturday night and were met with windy/rainy weather with temps in the 60s. Unfortunately there's not much to do here that's not outside so we decided to check out the water park. My daughter is almost 6 and we had a great time! Big tube rides were fun (although the line was a little long) and food was decent. Kids pool was fun enough to keep her busy for hours. The only downfall is that it's not open during the week this time of year. We didn't stay at their hotel soI can't speak to that. Definitely recommend for a day of water fun. Especially when it's cold out.

So glad you enjoyed the new indoor waterpark and hopefully you are able to also enjoy the new beachfront hotel on your next visit! We purposely keep the water and air temperatures in the 80's to ensure our Guests' comfort even on those less than "Chamber of Commerce" days on normally beautiful South Padre Island. Glad we provided you a fun time and come see us when the outdoor park is also open during the April - September time frame!

I hope you enjoyed the warm 80+ degree water during your stay with an air temperature that is also kept in the low 80's!!

Family-friendly, safe and fun are what Schlitterbahn Beach Resort is about and during Spring Break we enforce those same rules to make sure we are able to accommodate and exceed the expectations of our Guests.

“Worst stay in my entire life.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

Had a horrible time and wil never choose Schlitterbahn again in my life time. Staff is super rude, can't even have my friends come in to get something. I paid over 700+ for two nights and check this out. Must have wristbands, no hot water in the afternoon, rooms were not clean, bunch of kids running around wet, floor was always wet, humid and worst of all one of their employees use my credit info for fraud. Had to run to the bank to claim the fraud on the online purchases she has made. They even charge me $200.00 for late check out, that was also disputed against them.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment on your stay. Schlitterbahn Beach Resort is a family-friendly resort and during Spring Break we enforce very strict criteria so that all of our Guests may enjoy their stay in a quiet, safe environment.

We do not allow outside visitors into the Guest room areas during Spring Break as this has proven to be a major concern for most Island properties. Wristbands are provided to all Guests since they serve as entry keys and allow the access to the indoor waterpark. During Spring Break, nearly every hotel on South Padre issues wristbands to Guests to ensure non-registered Guests are not in areas they are not entitled to.

If you have a billing issue, please contact us directly as there is no record of the claim you have made and we would gladly make sure only all appropriate charges were made.

“It's new, it's clean... It's lame”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

The facility is nearly brand new, in fact the outdoor portion is not completed. However, the layout of the indoor portion makes no sense and is potentially hazardous. To get from the indoor waterpark to the hotel pool, you need to walk through the tile lobby.. which is very slippery. Someone is constantly mopping it. The children's pirate ship is small, the lazy river is way too lazy, while the rapids are so fast and turbulent as to be dangerous. The water was freezing cold. The outdoor pool was actually comfortable. There are two water slides that are OK. There is a carousel in the middle of the watermark--- Why?

There is not a lot to do here - save your money and go to the beach.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on your visit. The year-round, heated indoor waterpark opened in the fall of 2012 and is included with the outdoor park during the summer season. The award-winning outdoor park is open from April-September annually and will be connected to the indoor park via an underground tunnel and tube slide. Accessibility to the indoor waterpark is from multiple locations and I wish someone had pointed out the various entry points and how to reach the large swim-up bar without having to go through the lobby. Out two torrent tidal wave rivers are designed to have thrill sections and relaxing portions and allow mild and wild entertainment, under the watch of dozens of trained lifeguards. Water temperature is kept at a warm 80 -84 degrees to ensure the satisfaction of the majority of our Guests. We look forward to you visiting and enjoying the entire outdoor and indoor parks during the summer.

“You call this heated??”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

The hotel is great. Kids area is wonderful. But.....when they say indoor and heated dont think it will be warm. The only thing heated was the resort pool and it was outdoors. The indoor park yes it is nicely covered but the water was cold! During the summer I could see it probably being better. All though they say it is a year round park... I wouldnt recommend coming in Februry or anytime too cold. According to a staff member the indoor part will never get hotter than 84 degrees. Next time I think May or June would be the ideal time to come.

Thank you for your visit to Schlitterbahn Beach Resort and taking the time to comment on your visit.

The water temperature is maintained at a warm 80-84 degrees and the Swim-Up Palapa Bar is kept in the low-mid 90's. We also keep the air temperature in the 80 degree range for the satisfaction of the majority of our Guests.

We look forward to seeing you back this summer to enjoy the indoor and outdoor waterparks.
