“GREAT FOOD”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

We went there on a week night and were seated right away. The food was great and so was the salsa. The service was very very good, friendly, and our food arrived quickly. People sitting around us said the traveled 45 minutes just for the food, fajitas. We have and will be going back as long as we are here visiting.

“What fun and good breakfast too”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

Four of us stopped by for cocktails on a rainy, cold evening. We sat at the bar. The barmaid was Janet, and she was fabulous. She was extremely busy making drinks, cleaning up, answering the phone, etc. But she is an expert multitaxer and spent a lot of time chatting with us and making us feel welcome. She informed us of the "sister stores" etc. And we were very happy to hear that it may be possible that a restaurant similar to the Big Donkey may be coming to our town. Well, the cocktails were great and the whole atmosphere was friendly and casual. The bar isn't very large, and it was full. Everyone there enjoyed each other's company. Janet also told us about the good breakfast that was served there, so we returned in the morning for what was, indeed, yummy. I had one of their breakfast tacos that was stuffed with hot and fresh goodies. It was in a 12" tortilla. It was so good, but HUGE, I wished I could eat it all, but it was too big even for me. We will definitely return to the Big Donkey and hope Dirty Al (the owner) may open one closer to our home.

“BACK AGAIN year three”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

One of our regular spots when we snowbirds are here 2-3 months. Fantastic service. Hubby opts for breakfast huevos rancheros...I prefer the lunch fare. Therefore, we arrive pre 11 am, and they accomodate. Perhaps peak season guests may not expect such? Daily lunch specials. Happy hour 11 to 6....am I wrong? 20 oz margaritas for $3. Yes, a bit low on the alcohol side, but yummy. I suspect this spot is wild during March spring break weeks. Otherwise, family friendly. As to the "salsa", it is a dip, not salsa. A nice alternative. We have dined here for breakfasts, lunches, and enjoyed happy hour snacks.

“Pretty good tex-mex, salsa needs work”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

This place overall had the best Mexican food we found locally.

There's quite an assortment of menu items including fried fish baskets.

The rating would have been higher except for the salsa, a pale odd-flavored tomatoey gruel served warm. Blech.
