Reviewed August 21, 2012

Stayed for 4 nights in early August during the week. Check in and out were a breeze. The pool looked small but clean. Located across the street from a convenience store, a couple blocks from the beach and within walking distance to several stores and restaurants. The room was large and well appointed. A/c was a little noisy but nice and cold. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron and board all worked fine. Cable was nice with HBO and Cinemax. Kind bed was so comfortable with fluffy pillows. There were a few cosmetic issues, but nothing dramatic. Upon entering the bathroom we realized it was handicapped acessible because of the railings and the overall huge size of the room itself. Bedroom also had a sofabed, coffee table, desk with chair, padded bench, dresser, 2 night stands and a single chair. All were dated, but clean and useable. At night, we never heard a peep from anyone or anything. Parking is limited, but we always found a spot. Breakfast was better than others had reviewed with waffles, boiled eggs, cereals, juices, coffee, danishes, donuts, bagels, toast, toppings, fruit and yogurt. Lobby is small and was always filled to the brim, so we had to take our food to the room...no big deal. Had seen a reviewer say that the rates are cheaper on the hotel's website rather than booking thru Expedia, etc. He was right! Saved some money that way, thanks! Overall, a good experience!

This place was awful! We had 2 adults and two kids, they would only allow you to have three towels at a time. And you would have to take the clean towels to them and get more. That made it very difficult we you are getting ready to go somewhere. The place was a dump, nothing like the pictures and it was not in a very good neighborhood. We decide to stay in padre and extra night and went and stayed on the beach with a beach view and access to the beach for $20 more than what I paid at the ramada! Don't stay here!! And the people were rude! Don't stay here! Go to the pearl south!

This hotel is old and needs some work. I stayed here while on South Padre. The bed was comfortable however the covers did not come up high. The restroom was so small the door barely missed the toilet. The walls looked as though they had been painted pink but you could see the other color coming through. The ceiling in the restroom was chipping. The paint was coming off the front door. You could see where holes had been patch but the repair was hurried. The tub needed to be resurfaced and there were cracks near the front door and in the bathroom. The coffee table was old and unsturdy. The room was clean but nothing stood out about this hotel. This just seems like a place that's getting older and they are trying to keep it afloat which is understandable but 80 dollars is high for a place with shotty worksmanship. Please stay in a hotel on Port Isabel because it's a 7 minute drive away from the island. Many people seem to get caught up on staying on the island when there are great hotels right across the 4 minute bridge.

Room Tip: If you have children pay 10 dollars for a cot.

I booked this hotel on the spur of the moment. I should have paid an extra 60.00 per night for the travelodge just down the street! First off I received a tourist book for South Padre in the mail. I used the phone number from the add to try and book a hotel. The person I ended up speaking to wouldnt give me the rate on the hotel until I had spent almost 20 minutes on the phone with him pretending he didnt speak or understand english. I had asked for a room with 2 queen beds and he insisted there were none available. He booked us in a room with a king bed , jacuzzi and promised there would be a sofa sleeper in the room. We had our 12 yr old with us and needed 2 beds. Upon arrival we found there were no sleeper sofas in the room...we also were going to be chgd 39.00 extra per night for a jacuzzi suite we didnt even want!!! Thankfully the front desk was nice enough to give us the room with 2 queen beds and reduced our nightly rate to 109.00 per night.
I should have just hung up on the Idiot i spoke with on the phone originally...and gone straight to the HOTEL front desk clerk. The rooms were very old...a fresh coat of paint was all the updating they had done....I was told by the Idiot that the hotel had just been remodeled!...NOT! The only reason we booked here was because they were pet friendly and we had our Puppy with us.
If you can overlook very outdated furniture, decor and in general an OLD hotel then it is worth it for a last minute trip, with a pet. Not on the beach and the beach is several blocks over.
The breakfast in mostly CARBS...so if you want some eggs and bacon forget it and go to Denny's!
I will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Speak to the front desk clerk ...do not use tourist web site!

We have just returned home this evening after a 3 night stay at the Ramada Limited on South Padre Island. My husband and i agree that the room itself and the hotel overall were of good quality (especially for the low nightly rate!) And, to compare, we have stayed in many different types of places, from exquisite resorts to RV parks and budget motels during the past several years.
First of all, the room was spacious. The pillows were plump. The towels were thick, and enough.
The TV was great. There was a loveseat and coffee table as well as a chair with a desk.
Everything worked. The clock radio, microwave, frig, hair dryer, iron and iron board, coffee pot,
A/C, lights - everything.
The staff cleaned the room nicely. There was a nice breakfast bar and they quickly asked each day if we wanted them to fix us waffles. Fresh fruit also, and fruit juice!
The one little thing I had to ask for was more coffee for the coffee maker (which was a single
cup type). I would bring my own mini coffee pot next time since we drink several cups right
when we wake up.
Of course, it was accessible to everywhere. The Stripes convenience store/gas station
is right across the street, and the movie theatre is right nearby, as well as numerous
restaurants. Of course the beach is right there, which makes it great, too! Thanks to
the staff at the Ramada Limited, our stay was quiet and comfortable.

We stayed 2 nights there this month and we can honestly say the we loved it and will definitely stay there again. We are truck drivers and when we got there Anne came outside and directed us to the perfect parking space. She and her husband Robert are wonderful people and we thank them for such a great stay in South Padre Island. We would recommend their hotel to anyone we that will be going down there. Their rates, the cleanliness of the rooms and their entire staff are definitely one of the greatest reasons to stay there!

Robert Palmer. We recently spent a week at Ramada Limited during November. The room was very comfortable. We had a king bed and a nice davenport to rest on after each day of sightseeing. The staff was excellent, very attentative and welcomed our small pet dog. Very nice breakfast. Room very clean. A very nice motel at a reasonable price. Would I recommend to a friend? You bet. Thanks to Bob and his wife for a great week at South Padre.
