We have visited many times both as business lunches and as a family. Our last visit was Saturday the 3rd 2014. We were there around 3 pm. We were seated immediately. Once again we were put in 'the creepy paintings room" as my grandchildren call it. We began to ask about sitting in another area but the hostess was gone in a flash. The one thing we do love is the micro thin chips. They are always fresh and hot. The queso is always on point. The salsa..meh, bland and boring. We placed our orders and then proceeded to wait for 40 minutes for food to come out. My grandsons quesadilla was so hard it was like a shingle. This visit is not the first time we've noticed thi problem. The choices for kids have absolutely no healthy options. I specifically asked for no cilantro or tomatoes on my taco Salad . It was served with both and had to be sent back. Then I had to wait another 10 minutes for the dressing to arrive. The restaurant was nowhere near slammed busy like it is in the evenings.. 3 adults at our table ordered fajitas 5 tortillas were brought to the table total. We had to request more..and again an unnecessary wait. The food over all is barely average. One problem we do see is inconsistency of seasoning. One time it will be so bland it tastes like nothing the next it may be so hot you can't eat it. We really have decided to give up on the place. Before Chuys moved into this building it was Camino Ranch. Oh how we wish they were still there.

We started eating at Chuys on Lamarr Blvd. back in the 1970s. They had three locations in Austin then. Later they attempted to open in Alamo Heights about ten years ago,but could not make a go of it.
Currently there are three locations in San Antonio.
We stopped by the location on IH35 in Selma and it's got that Austin Weird decor; Christmas lights on the ceiling, tons of very busy tile patterns on walls and floors, the Austin Texas kitch is all over this place.
Our server was Nikki and she was a keeper.
She anticipated our every need with the biggest smile.
The taco salad received rave reviews from my BW.
It comes with chicken fajitas, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, shredded white cheese in a huge crispy shell.
I had the chicken fajitas with all the trimmings.
These were tasty, but about average for a good Mexican restaurant.
The chips were bland and very thin, the salsa was fresh but consisted of chopped tomato and onion and had no kick.
This is a good place to get that old Austin feel.

Always good food. Nice atmosphere. Okay margaritas. It's usually very busy, it's a popular place. Service is good, but not outstanding. Chips are thin, fresh and abundant. Tortillas are made on site and good.
