We finally tried VC for the first time this past weekend. Owners & Staff were very friendly & welcoming. It was pretty crowded, so lots of people obviously enjoy dining here. We sat outside, & the atmosphere was very nice. Beautiful view, nice garden setting... Parts of the property did seem a bit aged, but I don't know if that's because of maintenance issues or if it's supposed to be "rustic".
The menu is very basic, traditional Italian, with an emphasis on seafood. We started with the calamari, which was decent. We've had better, but we've also had much, MUCH worse. It seemed fresh, but the rings were thicker, so they were a bit chewy (due to longer cooking time?). We then both chose pasta dishes, and they were very solid, well-executed meals. We recieved bread (free of charge & w/out asking), & we had the salad bar. Salad was a little disappointing, but... To me a salad bar is always a step down from a salad prepared by the kitchen.
The wine & beer selection was decent as well- we had a couple of Italian beers that were nice with our meal. Restrooms were very clean (always a good thing!), & again, our server, Juan, was fantastic!
Overall, it was a nice dinner, but I think that we were expecting something a little different. We might go back on a lazy afternoon for a drink & an app on the patio, but I doubt that we will ever return because we are "craving" their food. Nothing spectacular, but a good, basic meal.
