We visited 3 of the 4 painted churches around Schulenburg last Saturday afternoon. The church in Dubina was closed for a wedding. The Chamber of Commerce was closing at 1 pm on Saturday and told us the map was available at Frank's Restaurant for $4. It took us about an hour to drive to and visit the 3 churches. It's a nice drive along country roads. The painted churches are very nice and have beautiful stained glass. The one at High Hill is the most ornate. There is no fee to visit the churches on your own. Great way to spend a couple hours.

Outstanding efforts to glorify God with painting of these houses of worship. High Hill church magnificent and seems to be built of fine marbles and stone and it is all simple wood. Highly recommend.

We did this tour ourselves in our car with friends so it was free, but if you sign up for the tour it does cost a fee. We bought a helpful map/brochure that gave us some good information about the churches from the Schulenburg Chamer of Commerce Visitor Center. Each has it's own unique look and feel. Got some nice photos and really enjoyed seeing the beautifully painted
inside of each one. Definitely worth the trip. Stopped at the Kountry Bakery coming from Austin for a quick bite and after seeing all the churches came back to Schulenburg and ate a delicious lunch at Sengelmann Hall.

This is a great driving tour, there are 20 churches on the tour and High Hill is the most fabulous. Each one is open to the public and pictures are allowed. The ceilings are hand painted and the stained glass is beautiful. its like being in Europe.

We booked a tour of the painted churches through the Schulenburg chamber of commerce. Totally worth it! The guide was very informative and entertaining. The churches were breathtaking as was the beauty of the countryside. We ate lunch at the Kountry Bakery. It was delicious! We bought homemade kolaches (Czech pastry). Don't go in the heat of the summer; the churches are not air conditioned for the tour.
