Decent food, rude service. They seem to open whever they feel like it. I was there after their advertised opening time of 11:00 AM one day and they still hadn't unlocked the doors! The man in the kitchen just kept pointing at his watching, don't know what he was trying to tell me?!? No personality in their service, just ask the order, then take the money, no niceties, smiles, etc.

Yesterday I found R.J.'s BBQ in San Angelo. It was clear choice if you watched the steady stream of cars starting at 11:00 a.m. The prices seemed reasonable for BBQ. I was shocked to feel how heavy my "to go" brisket plate was. Never have I experienced such tender brisket. Most is either fatty or tough. R.J.s was scrumptious and very tender and not laden with fat. The potato salad was sweet and very good. I was driving home to San Antonio and called my husband to let him know I was bringing home the best BBQ in Texas home for dinner. He simply did not know what was in store for him. I brought home a pound of brisket and a pound of ribs. The ribs were succulent and full of meat. The rib meat was pink all the way to the bone speaking to the long slow smoking used. The sauce was also wonderful. What a hit!!! Now I have to take home a cooler when I go to San Angelo to load up with R.J.'s BBQ. Next time I will try their chicken although I just don't know how you can beat the perfection I've already found on the menu. R.J. has found the secret combination for ideal smoking time and the best BBQ sauce. If you like BBQ, this one is worth the trip to try. You won't regret it!
