We go to San Angelo a few times a year, and we are constantly looking for good hotel values in this very overpriced town. We had been staying at the Rodeway and found it to be a good value, but when they raised their rates by some 50% over the past year, we decided to look elsewhere. (Last time, they told us the increased rates were due to demand from the “oil boom, “ yet they were only at 55% capacity, according to the staff. Go figure.) Best Western is a direct competitor, located in the same area. We found it to be superior.
The price was a little lower than the Rodeway (though still higher than similar accommodations in most Texas cities). But the biggest advantage was that Best Western has queen beds, which is essential when travelling with our family of four including two adult kids. Double beds just do not work for us.
The room was clean and included a frig and microwave. The beds were comfortable and had several pillows. The heating/air conditioning unit worked fine. Wi-fi was free and fast. We did not get a chance to try the breakfast, which the check-in clerk told us was a “full hot breakfast,” which would also be an improvement over the limited breakfast offered at their competitor. Excellent water pressure in the shower was a treat!
It is nothing fancy, but we don’t want to pay $175 or more a night for a standard hotel room at the Comfort Suites, Fairfield, or Hampton Inn. This is a more affordable alternative. We had a comfortable stay, and will stay here again.
Wish we had read reviews before we chose this hotel! Had issues checking in. Clerk did get that straight eventually. Room smelled; carpet was worn; wall of shower was patched. Tub did not drain well during shower. Lots of noisy construction worker guests late at night kept us awake. Breakfast was pitiful! Cheap breaded chicken something that I would not serve to anyone. Eggs were rubbery & tasteless. All pastries were cheap quality. Our ice bucket did not have a liner, so hubby put ice directly into it. Old, cheap plastic ice bucket was cracked & leaked during night, soaking my purse & contents. It did dry, but now it smells! Just absolutely the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Staff was overall very unprofessional as well.
We had family business and trip was an unexpected last minute. After arriving and checking in we were very delighted. Room was clean, bathroom was very clean and most importanr the bed was very comfortable. We were very pleased and will certainly use this facility again. Oh and they have breakfast to boot! Thank you for making our stay pleasant.
Very friendly staff. Large room was very clean and the bed was great.Good selection at breakfast. I will most definately stay here again. Only complaint is that they did not have a laundry on the premises.
The Best western staff was very friendly the time I was there.
The rooms were very clean with nice decor.
The outside was very clean.
The swimming pool was great.
There are restaurants not to for from the motel.
The Texas road house restaurant is next door.
