“Amazing”

Was wonderful. I haven't had food like this in five years. Absolutely everything was cooked to perfection. Very cozy atmosphere.

“Fantastic food and great atmosphere”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

If you coming for West Texas portions, this is not your restaurant. We found the savory courses to be well prepared with fresh ingredients. The service was spot on.

Our only slight was with the deserts. The chocolate cake bread pudding was too dry.

Overall we love the place but the price makes it more of a special occasion than a routine dining experience.

“Old air condition, small portions poor flavor”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

The air condition is so old so you are suffering with the 100 degrees outside. Prefixed menu that you cannot add or change anything. Pricey for the quality, service , environment.
We asked a scoop of ice cream to finish the dense chocolate pudding and they told us that they were out because they make it everyday. Do they use the pharmacy scale to make the food?
I do not think I will eat there again. Previous chef was better. They think that they serve new Yorkers but they do not meet their criteria in food, quality and atmosphere.
I was hoping for something better but I am disappointed

“Looks can be deceiving...”
Reviewed July 20, 2012 via mobile

Drive down the narrow drive past the trailer park next door and you're sure to get a look from your significant other that says, ...What were YOU thinking?!?" No fear, just drive confidently to the rear parking lot, walk into Salt (bringing your wine in a brown paper bag) and settle in for culinary heaven. Upper East Side it's not but for $45 prix fixe 4-course feast, please!
Think of this as an oasis in a culinary wasteland...maybe not worthy of a long drive but if you're in the neighborhood, which in west TX means within 100 miles, find the Chicken Farm in San Angelo and by all means land at Salt in the Silo House.

“The ONLY restaurant in San Angelo that surprises, delights”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

This restaurant is the only in San Angelo to be worthy of a Texas Monthly review. Tucked away in a eclectic little artist commune, The Chicken Farm Art Center, Salt at the Silo offers a truly unique dining experience. The menu changes weekly featuring items such as Smoked Sea Salt Rubbed Beef Tenderloin with Gnocchi, Crimini Mushrooms, Arugula, Gorgonzola-Sun Dried Tomato Cream and Seared Atlantic Salmon with Crispy Polenta, Brussel Sprouts, Crudo. BYOB. Wonderful ambiance, reservations recommended. Worth every penny.
