The Boiling Pot has a great atmosphere. It is good for large groups or parents with children like us. The food is good. We enjoy the flavor and service. Our waitress was very attentive and prompt. The only downfall is does get a bit pricey. For what you pay I have experienced better food. But they are probably the only ones in the area who have fresh boiled crawfish which is priceless for true loves of the mudbug. Overall it is worth trying and fun to hear boiled crabs being smashed under the wooden hammer.

The atmosphere (seating outside) is fun and relaxing. The waitress will cover your table with a sheet of white paper and soon your dinner will be dumped on your table. Highly recommend the Cajun Combo along with an order of Crawfish.....delicious. Roll up your sleeves and dig in.

We are from Houston and have been coming to the Boiling Pot for over 15 years. We drive from Houston and always stop on the way back from Corpus beach trips. The Boiling Pot was one of the first dates we had many years ago and had the time of our life. We love going back for the food and the memories. We decided to have a romantic getaway this weekend (3-12-11) and go back to what we love.....Rockport and The Boiling Pot. We had a great day, checked into the hotel and drove to the Boiling Pot with our mouths watering. When we arrived at 8 PM there were a few people in line in front of us but as other patrons mentioned they were seating everyone outside in the cold. That didn't matter...we had coats and we were there for the food. When we got up to the hostess stand and mentioned there was two of us the very young non customer oriented hostess said they didn't have any tables for small parties only large tables. Looking around there were two tables with two chairs at each of them. We asked about them and was told that they were saving them for larger parties. It was clear the dinner rush was over but we were told we could wait 30 minutes to see if something became available. We asked about the tables inside the restaurant and were told the same thing. After looking forward to visiting the Boiling Pot ALL WEEK and driving 3 HOURS we couldn't believe that we were being told they were only seating large parties. Being so disapointed we left. The Boiling Pot has lost long time customers in exchange for a one time Spring Break six table top preference. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THE BOILING POT because of it. If restaurant owners want to be greedy and project this type of customer service then we'll stay home and cook our own seafood.

Ignored the reviews and took a chance on The Boiling Pot based on one previously fun experience inside. Went on a nice warm sunny Saturday afternoon with a world traveling friend, sat outside and ordered the shrimp/sausage/crab/potato/corn special for two of us, and a bowl of gumbo for my "not hungry" husband. When the boil was dumped on the table, we became three sharing, and no one left hungry, making it a bargain. The very spicy gumbo was used by us as a dipping sauce mostly. The potatos were spiced little reds perfectly cooked, shrimp plentiful and great (we enjoyed the head removing and sucking out). Could have used another crab, but hey they are expensive everywhere. The corn was ordinary, but the sausage was red hot and very nice. We were disappointed because there was no crayfish, and also that we couldn't get the boudin we loved in the boil, but had a great time. Next time we'll order the boudin separately, worth it. My friend praised it all (and ATE it all) and she's eaten in ports around the world.

Thank goodness I didn't read the other reviews before going as we would have missed a good meal. It certainly is a little funky inside and out, but everyone there was having a good time. The main menu item is 1/2 lb shrimp, 1/2 pound sausage, a whole blue crab, potatoes and corn on the cob. Plenty for two normal people. The shrimp were a little hard to peel, but they were delicious. The sausage was very spicy and good. The corn on the cob was great as were the potatoes. Fast and friendly service. Knock back a Shiner Bock or two and listen to good music for a while (e.g. Marcia Ball and similar.)
