“Some Interesting Presentations Scheduled Here”

Bay Education Center
Ranked #8 of 43 things to do in Rockport
Attraction details

We recently enjoyed a presentation about water quality as it affects the bays here and on the coastal bend. There are also opportunities for brown bag luncheon presentations that are of interest, such as the impacts of the red tide last year. The Center has a nice little display area and a small lecture room but does a good job of having interesting and educational topics that appeal to those of us who are winter Texans, fishermen, conservationists, etc.

Enjoyed the brief talk with the giant globe appearing to spin while images were superimposed on it. Very interesting and informative.

Love the presentation they have every day. The topic changes each day of the week, and we never get tired of seeing it. Another great place to visit when you are in town. You will not be disappointed. Great for children and adults!

Science on a Sphere is presented Tuesday through Saturday at 2:00 P.M. and 3:00. A different program Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with a shortened review of all on Saturday. Retired school teacher narrates the programs and is fantastic. Displays of esoteric marine life and habitats are presented thoughtout the building. A must see when in Rockport.

The interactive, hands-on exhibits in the Bay Education Center help teach adults and children about the ecology of the Mission-Aransas Estuary and local ecosystems. Another major attraction in the center is "Science on a Sphere". The lecture during my visit high-lighted ocean currents and their effect on world temperature and weather. The computerized video projection on the giant sphere in the middle of the room was fascinating and the lecture was excellent, but younger children may not find it as interesting as the exhibits. The programs change during the week and visitors may want to return more than once.
