Chose this restaurant based on the close proximity to our hotel, Comfort suites in Plano,
My husband didn't want to go far,, so between gps and trip advisor we picked it. Was disappointed when we arrived it's a strip mall, so many Texas places to pick, this is just not what i was wanting, tried love and war the night b4 and would probably pick that again for Authentic Texas food. Having said that the service was quick, the martinis were $10.50, the entrees we ordered, salmon salad $14.95, nicely done ,open faced beef sandwich, very good also. I liked this restaurant and if I lived here would return, but being an out of towner it was not the kind of restaurant I would go to here. I could find it at home
Looks are deceiving and for Ye Shire Tavern, the decorations frame this place to be more of an old, creepy, outdated place. If it underwent renovation and become more bright and inviting, it would probably get a better reception. The food is quite good, portions are generous, and the service is really good!
I recommend ordering:
-Waldorf salad with salmon $14.99 - this is a special and not listed on the menu. The salmon was cooked perfectly.
-Carrot cake is very good, so save room for dessert. Again, serving is very generous.
If you're in the area, give this place a chance.
Hubby ordered classic fish and chips: the chips were homemade, crisp and delicious and the fish was fresh and deftly fried. The surprise was the Chef’s Special, two perfectly sautéed Tilapia filets crowned with lump crabmeat and a light lemon sauce with sides of grilled asparagus and diced potatoes with a wonderful cream sauce. Our waiter was attentive and really pleased that we tried the fish.
Another time we will try their signature dish, prime rib, the fish tonight was too wonderful to miss.
Would not go out of my way to dine here as the food is okay. Service is fast but it all appears to come pre-packaged and reheated.
