We are used to the Mexican food found in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. With that being said, Chapa's was not bad for a small town. The food was hot and the service was good.

I went here on a Tuesday early evening, about 5 pm. The restaurant had only one other party in the place. Quick service, served hot, tasty. Very reasonable.

Sunday after church, after waiting 10 minutes to be seated (all the while being ignored by the staff), took a menu and seated ourselves. After being ignored another 10-15 minutes by the waiter who was taking care of the area, we walked out and went to George's. Honestly, the food here is not bad, but the service is literally non-existent, or horrendous at best. Have been to Chapa's many times, but there is never any improvement. You WAIT an unreasonable length of time to be seated; if there is more than two in your party you WAIT an unreasonable time for your food; and you even have to WAIT a long time to pay the tab. For a short time they had a hostess to seat customers and take your money, which certainly helped. No one seems to be in charge and no one seems to care that their business is a joke. If they are busy, they actually give the impression that you are a bother to them. It doesn't help that they usually have two waitress covering the whole restaurant. I cannot imagine how they have managed to stay in business. Understood when they posted a sign saying "no checks" but have a little trouble with "no credit cards" either, which they do I assume when their credit card machine is out-of-order. If the manager said good help is hard to get, I wonder how the other restaurant in town has good waitresses??

We were passing thru Post and hungry. Chapa's is by the highway so we decided to try it. DO NOT get the chicken fried steak. But even the Mexican steak was not good. It wasn't terrible and the place was clean with nice staff. The food was tolerable but not remarkable. We will drive a little farther next time.
