It was awesome. They were out of oysters but the shrimp and fish were great. It replaces dirty Al's for us

“Thanks to Trip Advisor Reviews”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

After checking Trip Advisor, we tried Joe's (twice) and couldn't be more pleased. As Winter Texans, we've tried the more well known seafood restaurants in the Port Isabel/SPI area and have never been impressed. Joe's is excellent and a much better value than the others too. The fried seafood is fresh with a light batter that is flavorful and crispy without overpowering the fish, shrimp or oysters. The fried oysters are especially good. The Nathans plate, named for a grandson, is great if fried is not your thing. The flounder and shrimp are served blackened, but again the very good seasoning doesn't overpower the food. The crab cakes are actually mostly crab meat, very rare outside of mid-Atlantic states. They are different than what you would get in Maryland, with some Valley flavors, but we enjoyed them. Joe and his staff are great. They make you feel both welcomed and appreciated. Julio graciously indulged our attempts to speak Spanish while providing very good service.

“There's none finer.”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

I read the reviews and they did not lie. Joe's is a treasure. I have eaten at all the joints on South Padre but they do not compare to Joe's. Just cross the bridge from Padre to Port Isabel and it's on your right just a block over.

It's located in the Gulf Seafood Market and is very crowded at lunchtime. Go early...or late. I reccomend the Nathan's Special. You can get it fried or grilled. I chose the grilled and got grilled fish that was amazing, a sumptious crab cake and mouth-watering shrimp and fries. I added a side of oysters on the half shell. They were small and delectable with an unbeatable flavor.

They had me at hello. Joe's is the real deal.

“Not so sure at first”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

The place seemed a bit run down and there was an odd odor when we entered but after taking the waiters suggestion to have the grilled seafood platter, I am hooked. Great seafood, cooked perfectly with wonderful seasoning. Will go back!
