Once again Joe's doesn't disappoint. This is your local hole in the wall with the best fried and grilled food around. When you go you need to order the Nathan's special. You can get it grilled or fried for 10 bucks. 2 pieces of flounder, 5 shrimp and a huge car cake made with REAL crab. This place is a must go to when in the area. Lucky for me I'm a local and can visit anytime. The seafood market is open till 8PM but the actual restaurant is only open 11-7. This place is very casual so don't go there thinking it's fancy. Plain and simple.... GREAT FOOD and GREAT PRICES!!!

This is a restaurant with a fresh seafood market as you enter. The Market is open from 8am to 8pm, but the restaurant is only open from 11am to 7pm. The menu carry many items, but their signature dish is called the “Nathan’s Special” which includes 4-5 jumbo shrimp, a fillet of fish, and a crab cake for $10 and you can either get all the items in the dish fried or grilled. However, you can’t have half grilled and the other half fried. The crab cake is awesome and not like the ones you buy in the freezer section at the grocery store. It has real crab meat chunks and grilled is the best. Kids tried a dish with 8 jumbo shrimp (fried) with fries for $8 and a poor boy sandwich with a grilled fillet of fresh fish with fries for about the same price. For the Oyster lovers, they have a special (only on Wednesdays) with a dozen on half shell for $6. The place is small, but clean and the food is served in hard paper plates with plastic forks and spoons. This is not a fancy place for your romantic candle lit dinner, but if you like fresh seafood cooked with great taste and very cheap prices, just walk in. You will be amazed. Ask for Ricky (manager) and he will treat you with a smile.

Sadly, I’ve not fount a great place for Oysters on or around Padre, so I went searching and found Joe’s. Honestly, I would prefer to keep it my secret, but….

Joe’s is a little “hole in the wall”, but it’s clean and has fresh seafood of what you would really expect from a coastal town. The oysters were great.....fresh and large Louisiana oysters (TX are out of season). AND the incredible thing about Joe’s is they grill a lot of their food. While you can get good fried shrimp at a number of places, name one that has good grilled shrimp! Now name one where the grilled shrimp is better than the fried! That’s right, it’s cooked and seasoned perfectly (not overcooked) and you can taste all the subtle flavors that frying can mask. I would highly recommend the Nathan’s plate. It came with grilled shrimp, grilled founder (incredibly fresh) and a grilled crab cake that actually had a good deal of crab in it (for a change). On top of all this, the people are friendly, and it’s off the beaten path, so you get a true feeling of getting away. It was so good, we went back two days later! And we’ll be back again.

Joe’s, keep up the excellent work, and don’t go changing! You rock!

it looks like a grocery store but if you go in back, it is a restaurant serving fresh caught seafood. The friend oysters are my favorite. It is a great down home palce to take out of town visitors to.

My husband and I treated our grandchildren to our favorite SPI area restaurant. We all enjoyed the Manuel's special with chargrilled crabcakes, shrmp, fish and more. The grandchildren scarfed down their food and then enjoyed looking at the various lobster and other sea displays.
