Always love walking on the boardwalk looking at the birds and whatever is swimming around underneath. Had so much fun watching a duck with 5 babies. They were some kind of spoonbill and would dig around in the sand and come up with sand totally covering their little heads and eyes. One of them kept swimming around "blind" bumping in to everything. It was a hoot. We also saw the alligator - definitely 10 foot or more!

You are close to the lagoon plants and, if your lucky, wildlife. Particularly Boots and Bags the resident alligators. Yes, we have alligators in Texas!

This is just a a great place to see some of the areas natural habitats, anitmals and plants. It is somewhat hard to find but worth the effort.

This is a wonderful bird watching center. There are many different varieties of birds. We saw American Coots, herons, ducks and other species that I do not remember. There are two telescopes that you can use to view different areas of the water to look at the birds. These were donated so that all may enjoy viewing the wildlife. There is a tower you walk up to get a better view of the area. That also has one of the free telescopes.

This area is excellent to visit. Before you walk down the pier, you go through a garden with Texas native and not so native plants with markers telling you there name and some information.

If you enjoy watching wildlife/birds, this is a place to visit.

It's a bit hard to find, and I would not want to go when it was really hot, but we were able to see flamingos up close, which was quite exciting. Great for a 1/2 trip.
