“Really nice rooms, facility is basic”
Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed our stay in June of 13. We stayed in unit 407 and the suite itself was very nice. Fully stocked and very comfortable. The beds were comfy, and our family fit nicely. Our only wish was that the tv was HD, but not a big deal.

Outside of the room, the facility was nothing to write home about. The pool was big and not crowded during our Sun-Thur stay. The kids liked it, but if you are looking for a pool as a major part of your experience I would look elsewhere (Port Royal has an outstanding pool, but I don't know what the rooms are like there.)

There is no restaurant or gift shop at Sea Gull, so plan on making a trip or two into Corpus (10 Miles) or Port A (5 miles) for supplies.

The beach experience is nice for Port A. No crowds, and the staff always had chairs/canopies available. In general, i wouldn't choose this beach if you could as easily get to a nice beach elsewhere. Once again, I don't know what the weekend crowd was like, since we were not there.

During our week, judging by the lights in the units seen from the beach at night, the building looked to be about 1/3 full.

We liked it because our kids were entertained with the breach/pool and the room was nice. It wasn't the classic tourist-drink-&-a-novel beach vacation however.

Our 4 night stay cost about 1900 after taxes. I suspect with early booking you could get that down a bit

We stayed in condo 610 over spring break 2013. The condo was in definite need of updating, but it was clean and had everything we needed. We learned that the condo sold the week before our arrival, so maybe the new owners will update it, or maybe it will be dropped from the rental pool. 610 has a great view, it is not over the pool (yea, quiet!), and has 3 balconies. The listing says two queen beds, but they are not, they are doubles. So, if you plan on sleeping two people in a bed, they had better be small people. I am 5'3'' and slept with my 9yr old daughter, and it was a tight squeeze.

The staff was always nice and helped with anything we needed. The location of the property is 10 minutes from Port A and 20 minutes from Corpus. That was the only negative...driving in for groceries, to eat out, souvenirs, etc. But, the benefit was there were no crazy spring breakers, and the beach was not overcrowded. We did get a little frustrated with the "chair hogs" who went and got all the beach lounge chairs at 8am, left a towel on them, and came back and forth all day to the beach. It meant if you went down any time after 8am, you would never get a chance at a chair. Not the condos fault, just rude people.

And, for those who have never been to the Port A area, people can drive on the beach. So, watch your kids! And, that means that locals can drive over with their party trailers and camp outside your condo with their party tents, etc. That was actually pretty interesting to watch. I guess if you live in Corpus, you learn how to party at the beach on a budget! All they were missing was the portapotty!

Overall, we would definitely come back to the Sea Gull and the property right next to it, the Sandpiper, as it was identical to the Sea Gull.

Room Tip: Anything that ends in a 1 or 10 is a corner room (201, 210, etc.) and will be more quiet and have mu...

Your review is appreciated and we look forward to seeing you again. Upgrades to all condos are ongoing and many guests find that our property is in a great location (right between Port Aransas and Corpus Christi). We will have a new policy to encourage fair usage of our canopies/beach chairs that will be in effect for the summer season.

We spent 8 days the first of part October at the Sea Gull Condo's on Mustang Isalnd and it was perfect. This is just out side of Corpus Christi, Texas, just a few miles from Port Aransas. The property is on the beach with an easy walk down a board walk to a white sand beach and a great panorama of the Gulf. The building is clean and well cared for. The landsacpe is groomed and lush. The staff was great, friendly and very accomadating. Our unit was on the 5th floor and we had no issue with noise from any other units. The kitchen had every thing we needed for our in house meals. It is an easy drive to Port Aransas or the opposite direction to Corpus Christi. We found the restaurants in Port A good and reasonable in price. Corpus has a bigger variety and also all of the nationals if that is your choice. Be sure to try Snoopy's for great sea food just off the SPID going into Corpus.
October is a good time down here becasue it is between seasons and not as many people and rates are good. Couples or kids this is a great place. We are in our mid 60's and had a great time. Relax, enjoy the beach and sun, or drive the 140 miles to San Antonio for a day or two.
Good time, great place, and resonable rates

Have stayed here many times, but not recently. Yes, it's pricey. But what's not in PA? Our condo,502 was totally redone with tile floors (except in bedroom) granite, new bwthroom, ceiling fan in bedroom, huge flatscreen in living, another tv with separate cable in bedroom. Nice furnishings, etc, etc.

We have been offereed new towels, etra toilet paper, klennex, garbge bags, etc. ebery day. Everyone is friendly. They are working to refinish the common area floors (brick tile) and restriping the parking lot. The beach chairs which previous poster referred to as passe are Grossfillex...

The coffee, free from early till noon is very good according to my DH. Bring your own salt and pepper and whatever else. The kitchen is fully equipped and nicely, but no food related items.

Love it here....

We stayed here for a few days in September and enjoyed our fully upgraded condo (407). Kitchen was top notch with tasteful cabinets, granite, and stainless appliance. Even had a farm sink! Awesome for washing dishes for after family dinners. What was a bit diappointing were the amenties. The pool has furniture that was surely purchased 20 years ago. Uncomfortable lounge chairs with no side tables. Very basic.... Outdoor cooking was state park style charcoal grills. A nice summer kitchen would be a real improvement. They also have a dark gloomy basement with what seems to be a gameroom with a pool table and ping pong table. I had no desire to spend time there as it looked forgotten and depressing. The excercise room equipment needs replacing. Again circa 1980 something.

The fabulous part of this building is the location and view. It seems every condo has a wall of windows with an amazing view of the ocean. And I was pleased to see the water was actually blue/greenish. Yippee!! The walk to the ocean is literally steps away. View and proximity to the beach is very important to me. Hope this building improves itself in the future. It has real potential to be a first class spot for a quick short romantic getaway or a family style vacation

Rented 3 bedroom #210 - master was cool - other two rooms were very very hot - and I was really tired of hearing well its because of the day/evening sun. We had three fans in the one room as my husband is a diabetic. Cudos to the A/C man on staff, acknowledged our plight and was helpful in trying to alleviate the hot rooms. Guess we were suppose to use our towels for three days then complain - staff just missed our room completely.....tracked down the cleaning staff for towels. No overhead light in the second room, lamps on the mirror side didn't work - booking staff is a joke - they are nice but could care less attitude. Never did anyone offer to check on the hot room or even give some sort of concession - amazing. The kitchen was dirty and I tried to clean the stainless appliances - I know they are stainless - but who wants that grimy feel. On the flip side the room is right next to the stair well and gives easy access to the vehicle. This condo could really use a good scrubbing, wash the blankets on the beds, and vacuum and pick up the junk that was on the floor by the headboard - thank god I brought our own clean blankets and pillows.... We are frequent visitors to Pt. Aransas and this was the only condo that had the door to the washer and dryer locked. We still had a good time as always in Pt. Aransas - just had to get this off my chest because these vacations are not inexpensive - condo should have been a better experience......

Room Tip: Corner suites are great - just ask a few questions before spending money.

Overall this is a nice place, no major complaints However I would probably spend the few dollars more per night at sandpiper next door for a consistently better experience with the grounds and maintenance and rooms.

Some positives first, compared to a typical condo in port A:
1. Beach tents are free and the policy is first come first serve not first come first reserve.
2. The staff is really really nice and they try very hard to make the stay great. For example they asked us several times on the beach if we needed anything
3. Pool is nice, the bridge over it is neat and kids love it.

some things to work on:
1. Maintence is lacking on the grounds somewhat and in the rooms I've stayed in. There's paint and stain issues everywhere and some things just need to be replaced. It's not bad but it needs some attention, it's starting to really show its age. Someone needs to walk around painting and staining all surfaces and making decisions about replacing fixtures and such. I guess this is easier to do with the common areas but not so within the units themselves.

2. The room we had in our last visit had a terrible bed, about 10 years past its prime. I'm not one to normally have issues with this, but it was pretty bad Also I think I had that same bedspread in college 20 years ago.
We also had no curtains, only blinds: the lights outside flooded the room at night We woke up many times thinking it was daylight. Add some curtains. Our unit was also not well equipped, it was missing salt/pepper and basics like a frying pan. The sliding door lock didn't work- again, small maintenance issues that add up to an overall impression.

3. Charcoal grills, not gas, in the common area.
Buy some gas grills to replace the charcoal ones or supplement them. Lugging around charcoal and lighter fluid is not preferable compared to firing up a gas grill.
