“A must try!”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Very friendly staff, service was ok but they were very busy. Salad bar was fresh and plentiful. You must try Jay's Special. It is blackened mahi mahi with a special sauce over a bed of rice. My husband had the Castaway Dinner, was excellent as well. Very pleased

“Long wait, cold food”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

The wait to get seated was short and the staff was friendly. First up were hush puppies. The off taste of oil that had been in the deep fryer was there, which is never a good sign. After 33 minutes from order to table, and this time was provided by our very frustrated waitress, the food arrived stone cold. While a large party was ahead us, the food prep continued but they would not let the waitress deliver due to "policy". This resulted in our food sitting in the kitchen for what had to have been at least 15 minutes. The shrimp was cold to the touch and the baked potato was not even warm enough to melt whipped butter.

Sadly Castaways is on the list of no returns. While the wait staff was great and she did her best, management and the kitchen either lack the neccessary experince to run a resturant or just don't care.

“Enjoyed this place!”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Wow what a view. You can eat outside on the patio and see the docks with all of the boats. The food is excellent and and service is great too.....very friendly staff. The only downside is that the food is super expensive. It was over a hundred dollars for three of us. The starter was crab cakes and they were 13 bucks for two. I love the place though.

“Not too bad, the wait isn't as long as the other restaurants.”
Reviewed August 20, 2012 via mobile

This place is mostly average in service and atmosphere but the food is pretty good. I always get the filet mignon as I'm not a seafood fan like the rest of the family. But the family enjoys their seafood and thinks its pretty good. They usually don't have as long of a wait as some of the other restaurants which is also a plus. They have an outdoor bar which is nice as well! During the wait our kids like to play on the stage around the side of the bar which is nice for the parents! All in all it's worth going here!

“Great burger and good drinks”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

I was very weary to try this place after reading reviews here but we wanted a good burger and all the bad reviews were about the seafood, so we decided to give it a shot for lunch. Well we were not disappointed. They had a very very good burger, good fries and onion rings, and a good baked potato. We ordered a margarita and a paradise punch and they were really good and refreshing. It's very family friendly and laid back. One of the waiters, Scott, was so sweet with my little 2 year old. He was having a bad day and he brought him a book. If you want a good burger go here. I'll go back next time I visit.
