From the moment we arrived the staff was smiling and friendly. Having just left the beach, as we approached the front door he was outside and my wife asked are we underdressed? He replied, youre at the beach, come on in. They make us dress up. He wound up being our waiter and was awesome. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere nice and relaxing, the staff attentive, the beer great, and not too pricey considering a lot (if not all the dishes) is homemade. This is not some out of the freezer bag and fry it restaurant.

We're from Germany ourselves and their food tasted exactly like home! Even our little picky eaters loved the food the food there! When they tasted the food they said "yum yum"! It's a great place to eat for the whole family!

Great combination of Gulf Coast seafood, authentic German dishes, and Continental cuisine, backed by a great selection of German beers, and Marcel's carefully vetted wine list. Everything fresh, from scratch, and usually from the hands of Marcel himself. Nightly food and wine specials, complimented by a menu of predictably excellent standbys and "sunset specials" for the lighter appetite or tighter budget. Lightly cooked fresh vegetables, homemade bread, and traditional German sides. Yummy appetizers and deserts. "Homey" ambiance, and calm and quiet enough for practicing the near lost art of conversation over dinner. It's been my family's favorite haunt for nearly 30 years, and has never let us down.

The service was great and the German beer is fantastic but the food is a little pricey for what you get. I had the chicken breast with a mushroom sauce and steamed vegetables. It was $16.

Thank you for your favorable review Mack M. We would like to clarify that the Stuffed Chicken Breast (Chicken breast stuffed with Fontina cheese, grilled, and served with a mushroom cream sauce, sauteed vegetables, and pasta with hand grated Parmesan cheese) is $13.95 on the menu. Your price may have included tax?

We do stand by our menu pricing, and we also feel there is a lot of value in the dining experience we offer. Everything is made here from the House Cured Salmon to the Key Lime Pie and everything in between. This takes expertise and many labor hours. We don't cut corners, and we don't buy inferior ingredients. In addition we offer diners freshly made bread with real dairy butter (I'm bragging here, but the bread is made with several types of grain three of which we grind right here in the kitchen from rye and hard red and white wheat berries). Our customers sit down to a table that is set on linen with a nice linen napkin, real glassware (so many restaurants serve their beverages in plastic to save money), silverware. We cater to diners, so there is no rush - we encourage guests to take their time and enjoy their meal. We aren't in the business of "turning over tables".

The many amenities we offer do have a cost, and this is reflected on the menu pricing. Sorry if this explanation is way too long, but there really is a lot that goes into what we do - and we don't often get the opportunity to address an issue like this. We hope to see you again Mack; I hope you enjoyed your visit to Port Aransas! :-)

The restaurant kindof looks like grandma's house inside, but staff is friendly and food is good. A quiet restaurant with cloth table covers.
The stuffed jalapeno appetizer and dinner salad were very good. Homemade bread was amazing, as were the mixed vegetables and dark chocolate cheesecake.
