Closest thing to Haute Cuisine on the island. Immaculate food, uncompromising in quality, freshness and preparation. VERY limited indoor seating.

“A must”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2008

We travel to Port A every year for a week. We dine at Shell's as often as we can. My husband had the grouper this past time and it was excellent. My tuna tacos were awesome! The gorgonzola pasta with spinach is my all time favorite menu dish.

“so dang tasty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2008

They graciously seated us a little late. Our educated, informed, and attentive server recommended the hard-to-come-by grouper, which rocked, and the skirt steak with chimichurri was perfectly cooked, although we might have liked the sauce a little brighter. We enjoyed the simple Côte du Rhone, the copious butter, and the patio dining. Oh yeah: it was right across the street from our favorite Laughing Horse Lodge!

“Great flavors found here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2008

Most of the menu is on the chalk board and most of the prices that go with those menu items are in the high teens to mid twenties. There are a few hidden gems on the printed menu, however. Check the pasta selections - all priced around $7 to $9. We tried 3 different ones and all were great. My wife had the Healthy Pasta - it tasted a lot better than the menu description - with a smoky chicken added it was very tasty. I had a chipotle chicken pasta dish that tasted good and was very satisfying.
Only negative was that the air conditioning vents dripped water occasionally. Get there early, there aren't many tables.

“good but slightly overpriced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2008

my husband and I tried Shells based off reviews here. We were pleased with the service and food, but it was slightly overpriced. We had the amberjack (which was overcooked and dry but good flavor) and crabcake/shrimp combo - again very good, but small portion for the $$. Wine was good, and chocolate pecan cake for dessert was great. Still looking for the best food on the island...
