On the recommendation of the host at the Holiday Inn Express, just across the street, I went for dinner expecting something amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and casual, which is what I like but it certainly was not in the "fine dining" category.

I ordered the swordfish steak with the caper aioli for a price of about $20. When it arrived it was luke-warm at best and very raw in the middle. I sent it back and I was told that the aioli sauce would be what would cool it down. When it came back after 10 minutes of supposed re-heating, without the aioli, it was still luke-warm and tough. Honestly, in my opinion, it was a pre-grilled fish steak that was most likely refrigerated and put in the oven for a few minutes. It was not passable and I sent it back.

I was graciously offered a second menu item, to the credit of the restaurant. I chose the crab cake with the grilled shrimp skewer with another type of aioli. The crab cake was very hot when it arrived but average in taste. The shrimp skewer, again, tasted luke-warm and like it had been pre-grilled and stuck in the oven for a brief period to heat it up.

If you're expecting fresh seafood do not expect it from this establishment. You can get better elsewhere for a similar price. This restaurant is grossly over rated.

“Port A's great "little" gem”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

We have been going to Shells for several years and have never been disappointed. A small place to be sure but well worth the wait if you get there after the tables fill ( which seem to be earlier every year!!) The absolute freshest, most tantalizing seafood, incredible fusions of flavor, endless ways to serve fresh pasta. The wait-staff gals are so good, so friendly, and really keep you well fed and watered. A must-do while in Port A.

“Food was OK, service not that great”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

We ate here twice on our trip to Port A. The food was OK but the device was horrible. She honestly just didn't care and she made it known. Why did we go back twice, because my husband feels everyone can have a bad day...I think all of her days are bad.

“Pricey”

Good food, but a bit expensive. You do get a large serving, so if you have a child with you, share one entrée.

“Fantastic pasta and great seafood!”
Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyable lunch on the outdoor patio with a perfect breeze accompanied by our dogs. Everything tastes good. Had the bruschetta, bread with olive oil, smoked pork and venison wrap (mmm!), Rigatoni Pollo (a signature dish for sure), and Mahi Mahi. Wish we had room for dessert. Very extensive menu with tons of specials - something for everyone - all at reasonable prices. Will come back.
