“We liked it.”

It is a very small place; only 9 tables and I can see how this would be very crowded during the busy season, but off season at 5 pm there was no wait. My husband ordered the duck and he loved it. I had the spicy shrimp with pasta, and it was quite spicy and very good. The bread came with some awful dipping sauce. Stick with butter or oil and vinegar. Very cozy, very relaxing dinner. Also quite expensive. The second most expensive meal we had in our stay in Port A after Roosevelt.

“Great Food!”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

We shared 2 items off the chalkboard; a pound of steamed clams in a garlicky white wine broth with chunks of bread for dipping, and cappellini tossed with fresh seafood in a in a Thai curry coconut broth. The clams were delicious....the broth was perfect. The cappellini dish was exquisite; the seasonings were just right and the shrimp, squid, and fish were fresh and perfectly cooked. Our waitress was very friendly and the place was filled with a mixture of locals and visitors to town. This place should definately be high on your list of places to visit in Port A!

“Pricey”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

Shells had been recommended to us by friends. We found it to be a cozy (small) place to eat. The food was very good and the service excellent. We would love to have tried the entrees which sounded wonderful but they were also expensive. We shared a lobster salad on crostini and linguini with sun dried tomatoes and gorgonzola. Both items were appetizers of generous proportions. I would recommend Shells for special occasions. You can buy beer and wine, either by the bottle or by the glass.

“The BEST”
Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

Shells was recommended to us by our friendly innkeepers as soon as we got to town. We should've taken their advice on the very first night--because we never would've eaten anywhere else during our stay in Port A. Shells is so amazing that I cant even get over it. We tried about 7 dishes. After the first delicious appetizers came out we could not stop ordering more! My friend and I have joked many times about making the 3 hour drive south just for dinner--except that we're not joking and really would drive that far for sweet Shells! Shells! Go there!

“Cozy Little Restaurant”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Cozy little restaurant in Port Aransas. Dinner specials were explained before my husband and I sat down and removed our coats (we were still standing). Alfredo bow-tie pasta was great - fresh, cheesy, and delicious. Steak cut was average, but the gorgonzola sauce served with the steak was perfect - not too heavy and just enough bite. The other entree was a blue crab cake and grilled shrimp, accompanied by an aioli sauce that needed a little more kick. Crab cake - OK, but not as meaty as some reviews characterize this dish; more filler than crab. Grilled shrimp presented nicely on a skewer. Crab cake and shrimp were served with steamed vegetables (decent) and bland rice. We would return and try it again another time. Maybe stick with the pasta? Water glasses were consistently filled throughout the meal. Restaurant has a diverse menu and staff was friendly. Plenty of locals there - a good sign.
