I agree with the woman's comments about the lack of grass and the sticker issue. I had the same exact problem with my dogs & it made it difficult. Additionally, our dog bowls were dirty when I showed up and the dishes had leftover food encrusted on them. The overall place needs to be renovated/painted to justify the $150/night cost -- she's right about the floors and the ceilings...they were in desperate need of repairs. On a positive note, I loved the easy access to the beach and thought Sandy was lovely.

When we purchased the property 5 years ago we had stickers everywhere. We hired a company out of San Antonio to get rid of them; and they did.... until the drought hit. Here in the coastal bend of Texas we are suffering from the worst drought in decades. It is brown everywhere and if one would notice, nothing is green. And, our stickers are back. We hate them and will get rid of them again. We may have to wait until this winter when the rains will come again. We are sorry. We have dogs too and the stickers are hard on their paws. We are working as hard as we can to get rid of them. But we still have a great beach and the wonderful Gulf of Mexico. Don't take the drought out on us, please.

We have stayed at LHL twice now, and it is exactly what we are looking for. Our favorite things are:
1. friendly to kids and dogs (the most important to us) - tile floors are easy to keep clean, don't have to worry that they come inside sandy even after rinsing off at the beach
2. in town - easy to walk or bike to the beach as well as into town for souvenir shopping or dinner - but not too busy; like that the kids could ride bikes to the beach without crossing anything but tiny little streets going to residential areas.
3. have a stocked kitchen to avoid having to eat out for every meal
4. individual cottages - don't have to hear everything your neighbor is doing
5. park right by the front door; our cabin also had room to put our trailer and bikes right in front
6. my husbands favorite - close to the pier for all-night fishing!
7. My kids loved the private shaded patio - picnics always taste better than eating inside

The rooms are not fancy, but both times they were clean and comfortable with an AC in each room that kept the cottage nice and cool. The bathroom is not huge, but we had plenty of room to do what we needed to do! I do think some big throw pillows would be nice in the Buzz, because the 'couches' in the living room are mattresses on platforms, so not very comfortable to sit on. If you want a hotel, this is not the place for you, but if you want your own space, some privacy and a place that is easy to bring kids and dogs to, you'll thoroughly enjoy LHL.

This place is very eyecatching with its wild colors and the people are very dog friendly but, this place is not worth 150.00 a night. First off, We took our dog with us and could not even walk him outside because what little grass there was, it was so full of stickers that my dog could not even walk in it. I even had sandals on and got stickers stuck on the sides of my feet-ouch!!! So, I ended up pulling stickers out of mine and my poor little dogs feet!!! And as far as the rooms, I dont know about the other units, but the duplex unit we stayed in was very run down. There was aluminum walls that separated us from the other unit so we were very afraid to talk too loud or have our tv too loud. The other walls had old outdated brown paneling. It had old plywood floors that had been painted blue, were very faded, and chipping and needed redoing. They were nasty looking and I did not walk on them without my slippers. The covering over the bed was very threadbare and faded. The pillows were flat & the bed was creaky and not comfortable at all! And when laying in bed and looking up at the ceilling, you could see nasty water stains and other areas that had a very poor patch up job. Did not even repaint where it had been patched. The bathroom was not ventilated and the shower drain was broken, rusty and nasty looking. You had to hold the knob down on the toilet for about a minute or it would not flush. There were two windows in the bedroom. Both had dirty standard white blinds and one window had a very threadbare valance while the other window had nothing. The window in the bathroom had a brown plantation type shutter that you could see out of during the day shut- so, in this bathroom, you better get your shower before nightfall or risk having a peeping tom looking at you through them!!! All in all, this place was horrible and I would not recommend it to anyone or even for a dog!

No owner likes to see guests unhappy with their stay. It seems we did little to make this guest have a good experience. We are an old Port Aransas beach style property. We think the corregated metal walls in one unit are kind of cool and the hot shot designers, who stayed with us recently from New York City, agreed. But then what do they know about what is cool in Texas? Anyway, we will work to do better and for the things we can improve on, we will.

We traveled from Frisco, Texas with our two precious corgis.
They had a wonderful time. Loyd and Sandy are amazing. They made sure Sammi and Zoe were welcomed and always had a treat ready for the girls. The room was cozy, comfortable and just the right size for our family.
