Fantastic meal at Roosevelt's - the Mahi Mahi Etoufee special, shrimp ravioli with halibut and coconut shrimp were outstanding...the keylime pie and pumpkin cheesecake were to die for.

We've been coming to Port A for several years now and glad we looked at TripAdvisor...great place for a small intimate group but make a reservation, service staff and chef are very friendly, a little pricey but definitely the best food in Port A.

We were having a small family gathering in Port A during the holidays.Where to eat New Years Eve was the big question. Friends had recommended Roosevelt's and the reviews on Trip were positive. Unfortunately they were booked. Much to our surprise they called back and said they had had a cancellation and could fit our party of nine.
We arrived on time (7:30) and were told it would be 10 to 15 minutes to seat us. At 30 minutes and no sign of progress we became a bit anxious. Soon after, John (the owner?) came out with a complimentary bottle of red and a bottle white and apologized for the delay. A large group had been finished for some time, but were showing no sign of leaving. We enjoy a leisurely meal and could sympathize with the staff, but were wondering if we would still be eating at the stroke of midnight. John checked on us regularly giving us frequent updates and entertaining us with tidbits of island history.
We were finally seated and Cassie our waitress took command! She managed our table with great expertise and almost single-handedly. The menu was specific for the evening, but minor adjustment and combinations were no problem. The grill is exposed so you can watch the chefs working their magic and they did not disappoint. The chicken cordon bleu was excellent, the snapper with shrimp ravioli a taste sensation, and the shrimp & tenderloin tower delicious.
Looking forward to our next trip to Port A and Roosevelt's!

Bring plenty of money, but it is worth it. Best lamb chops I've ever had. Chicken and shrimp dish also outstanding. Whatever you do don't miss the Oysters Rock. Wait staff pleasant and the kitchen staff will make recommendations for you!

We just got back from Roosevelt's Restaurant and are stunned at just how mediocre the fare was at this #1 rated Port Aransas restaurant. The crab cake appetizer was so over-spiced with pepper that you couldn't taste anything but heat. The drum was cooked nicely and was a really nice piece of fish. Unfortunately, the "blackened" spice mixture was primarily salt ... way too much salt! Lastly, the filet was cooked correctly (rare) but, actually, was so thin (1/2 inch thick) that it really didn't even seem like a filet. The mushroom sauce for the steak was very nice, though.

The service was friendly and the atmosphere quite pleasant, but for $120 (with tip) it was a most mediocre experience. The Cafe Phoenix, currently rated #2 for Port Aransas restaurants, was a MUCH better experience in a similar price range!
