“Basic Place but Great Fried Oysters and Reasonably Priced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2014

As a previous reviewer put it, this place really is a "hole in the wall". And you probably don't want to go there when it is cold outside since the place does not seem to be adequately heated. We went here on evening based on recommendations from a local. All the locals seem to come here for their cheap and tasty breakfasts and lunches. Their parking lot is always full

While the surroundings are not great, my wife says that the fried oysters were the best she has had in a long time. There were 15-16 on the plate along with your choice of two vegetables plus a trip to the soup and salad bar. I am a vegetarian and was offered the soup and salad bar. The one non-meat soup was great and the choices on the salad bar were fairly limited but still enough to fill me at a very reasonable price

“a good place.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2014

I have been to Avery's several times since coming to Port A. It is a mom and pop place. I guess you would call it family dining. I think most of the locals eat there and the guys from the job site too.

I like it for good old American food and a decent breakfast.

No, there is nothing fancy or upscale about and that is good.
