Really enjoyed condo #201 very roomy for our family.. Loved that every room had a TV especially with kids that always want to watch cartoons-- Loved the great big balcony; the pool is a bit small but the gameroom was great--Our daughter played ping-pong everyday-- Planning another trip already!!! We have been to Mustang Island Beach club like three summers in a row, We love it, they are very friendly and Pet friendly which means a lot to us. We have enjoyed our stay and have never had any problems, as a matter of fact, We are getting ready to take a trip on Aug. 8 and staying until the 12th. of 2013.

Beth is very nice and patient with us every time we call and make our reservations she's very helpful and patient to accommodate us.

We love the location, not to far from Port Aransas and We love that it is private and they are not hounding us if we are in the pool a little late quietly as long as everyone is well behaved and quiet. We feel very comfortable and at home and very enjoyable and restful.

Thank you Beth we will see you soon on Aug. 8th, 2013, love ya!

The room we stayed in was updated and very cozy. The downside was the highway being right outside the bedroom and hearin the passing cars all night. The covered designated parking was very nice just had to walk up the stairs to our room which was right next to our parking spot.

We stayed at Mustang Island Beach Club with 5 other families and stayed in CONDOS 203, 114, & 215 (2 families per each condo) beginning of June 2013. All of us were pleasantly surprised and happy with each of our condos. Previously we had driven twice as long and spent twice as much money driving to South Padre. WE ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY that we went to Port A this time and found the beach to be similar!

Each condo is individually owned and thus are decorated differently. The condos we stayed at all had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a pullout couch. They were also beautifully decorated, clean, and were similarly priced. Not all condos at the beach club are the same price as some have fewer rooms and some are not all nicely remodeled as the ones we rented. Unlike other condos we have stayed at, all 3 had nice plates, mugs, coffee maker, pots and pans. They were not generic and did not seem like they were bought at the dollar store. This was important to us, as we always tend to have one meal at each condo and so a lot of cooking is done by all. There was also a washer/dryer combo in each condo which was very useful. Bring your own detergent just in case though. Also bring your own liquid hand soap to put near your sinks. None of the condos had hand liquid soap. They did supply dish soap though. We brought our own sponges just in case too.

POOL: all of our children enjoyed the pool. It seemed a little small to me, but the children did not complain and that is all that mattered.

BEACH: condos are located right next to Port Royal Resort. To get to the beach is about a 1/2 mile walk so if you're going to carry all your beach things and have kids in tow, it is best to drive there. There is a dirt road from the parking lot to the board walk. You park at the entrance to the wooden boardwalk and then walk to the beach. Some of us paid the beach access fee ~ $10 so we could drive our cars on the beach and set up our umbrellas, chairs, coolers, etc. You'll have to go to the main road/ highway and drive to the beach access sites and then drive down to the area where the condo walkway is. We went right after Memorial day weekend when there was tons of rain in Texas so there was seaweed all over the beach. This is not always the case though as I have been there before and the beach had no seaweed. Several of us ran on the beach in the morning. It was quite windy all day, but it made for fun with the waves and boogey board. There is a shower near the parking lot to rinse off when you come back from the beach.

PARKING/BUILDING: the beach club is a little worn down from the outside, but the office is nice inside. Parking is located UNDER the condos of which there are about 4 semi-separate buildings. From the parking lot, you have to walk up stairs to the first floor. So #114 is actually a flight of stairs up.

The pool is in the center of two buildings. Since our 3 condos were all located in separate buildings we had to do a lot of walking. From #203 we had to walk down 2 flights, go through the pool area, walk up stairs to get to another flight of stairs to goup to #215 on the other building. Lots of walking!

There is a pool table and foos ball table in the office.

ANIMALS: some condos are pet friendly . . .#203 and #114 were pet friendly. Our friends opted for #114 since it was only one flight of stairs for their dog.

#203--this is where my family stayed. The main room was a little hotter than the 2nd bedroom where we slept so when the AC was turned down, the 2nd bedroom got even colder! The AC vent over the main bed in the 2nd room did drip a little onto the bed, but it was very minimal. The master bedroom has a nice King bed with Bathroom inside the room. The 2nd room had a Queen and twin bed. Our daughter comfortably slept in the twin bed while my son stayed in the pullout bed in the living room. They put plastic covers over the mattress so it was a bit noisy moving in bed. The living room is separated by a small partition with a cutout in the wall. The owners made a little study nook here w/ a cute desk and chair. This room's balcony overlooked the pool. The floors are wood and nicely done

#114- pet friendly. Pics from the website were true to life. The layout was very open compared to the other two and had an island. There was a nice table in the balcony that points outside of the complex.

#215- not pet friendly. Had free wi-fi and offered beach towels. The concrete stained counters were a nice touch. There is also a nice table on the balcony overlooking the outside of the complex. The floors were wooden.

HIBACHI GRILL BUFFET 20 minute drive into the city on Staples street. This place is a must! WE were all happy and didn't think the drive was long at all.

ALL IN ALL, we want to go back! Mustang Beach Club was a great deal.

We stayed in unit 102. Upon quick examination the room looked nice, but as we looked more closely, there were things that were hard to ignore, such as: food splatters on the kitchen wall next to trash bin, limited cooking utensils (one big frying pan all scratched up and sticks) mix matched flatware stored in a drawer that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. My husband took the drawer out and cleaned it, the flatware were thrown in the dishwasher to be cleaned. At this point I didn't trust that any of the stuff in cupboard were clean, so those went in the dishwasher as well. The ice dispenser wouldn't budge, when ice tray was lifted, it revealed gunk that was hard to clean. Husband went to see staff and someone was sent to clean ice maker. The excuse for the kitchen's not so pristine condition was that previous occupants stayed well beyond check-out so not enough time to do thorough cleaning. Suggestion: enforce checkout time. Other condos we've stayed in charge for every hour past checkout. The good points: condo was tastefully decorated; I like the wrap around balcony; lighting was good; plenty of chairs to sit on for reading.
The bathrooms were clean. The gardens in the resort are well-tended which gives a good vibe. The pool was nice but was small for a resort this size.

For our family this hotel met all of our needs and we will be back.

We loved having a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment with a washer dryer and huge balcony at this pricepoint.
You can walk to the beach or take your car up to the dunes (no access drive on the actual sand at this point).
We loved the location (I wanted to stay at Mustang Beach and not in the center of town.)
We liked that it was a smaller resort and had a very family friendly feel.
Pool is smaller but super clean, and for our young children it was perfect.

Each unit is privately owned, so there is no conformity for items in the kitchen, condition of the unit or furnishings. It like going to stay at a relatives' beach house with all the charm of a beachy (and maybe even a little shabby chic) place by the ocean.

Room Tip: go to the website and look at each unit. rumor is units closer to the main road are more noisy.

Large two-bedroom unit with beach access probably 1/4 mile walk away and over the dunes. Short drive to Port A and/or Sharkey's. This was the second time we stayed in this unit and it didn't disappoint. Clean and roomy condo, well-furnished, large kitchen, deck, with 2 bedrooms/2 baths was perfect for the 4 of us. The beds were a little hard, but after playing at the beach all day, that didn't disrupt our sleep. Office staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the pool, but it did look inviting. Would have given 5 stars, except they advertise free wifi, but this unit is too far from the router (in the office) to pick it up.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs are quieter than downstairs.
