“Disappointed this year..”

Owner description: Public beach on Port Aransas that is clean, has a lifeguard and has car-free locations.

The beach this year was a little disappointing. The seaweed was pretty bad when we went. I was told the seaweed was "shedding". It looked like tons of chewing tobacco in the water. However, the beach is the beach and the children and I all had a great time.

My big complaint...the trash. Port Aransas has always been a very clean (besides the seaweed).

This year, there was so much trash. One of the children in our group got a fish hook stuck in her toe out in the water, and another cut her foot on a piece of glass. Also, there are a ton of "skeleton" pop up tents up and down the beach. They are the rusted remnants of pop up tents. No top, just the metal part left to rust on the beach...not great for scenery.

Port Aransas is still a great place to visit.

Clean, nice facilities available. Stay posted on local news of turtle releases...best part of our trip being a part of one.

We drove to access rd. 1A & took a right on the beach, drove to mile marker 26. My husband caught several fish, we went kayaking, the kids built a sand castle. Their were portable bathrooms near by aswell as an outdoor rinse area for people. It was just the perfect spot. You do have to buy a beach parking pass, that can be purchased at any stripes store for $12.

We liked that we could drive our vehicle onto the beach and had easy access to all our ocean & sand toys, along with food and drinks.
