Description: A Texas Steakhouse and Diner since 1948, with everything from scratch: Pies, Rolls, Salad Dressings and we cut our own (never Frozen) aged beef steaks from primal cuts and grind our choice beef for the juicy hamburgers. Slow down for a taste of what food used to taste like before the chain stores made it all the same. We are BYOB if you care for an adult beverage, we have wine glasses and bottle openers, coolers are welcome or we can put your beer in a bucket on ice. The setting is informal, but if you come in all dressed up, we'll know you must of had a good reason not to be comfortable. Get the city in your rear view mirror and come to Ponder where you can still see the stars at night.

If you are in the Denton-Fort Worth area, don't miss this fun place to eat. The burgers are great and they cut their own french fries fresh daily. It is a laid back hidden fun place to eat. The chicken fried steak rivals any place on Route 66. The help is fun and friendly. Good food good time.

Good Service and Good Food 1st time..... Shoulda never went back!! We went about a month ago, one week night (a Thursday) TBone/baked potato, and Chicken fried steak/fries were really good. Just went again this weekend (saturday 9/21/13)... Omgosh it was awful! The food and the service were both a fail. Husband ate Tbone and potato, even though it was no where as good as before. I sent back the uneatible chewy tough chickend fried steak. Not sure if they just had an off night or what but it was bad enough we'll never go back and certainly won't refer them. For the $40 we spent we could have had much better food, and service else where!!

Have eaten steaks here before, so have a base to jug. Wife ordered chopped and I ordered smaller ribeye. GOOD PLUSE- tender, cooked as ordered, great finish (eye appeal), delivered to table hot..... BAD PLUSES: ABSOLUTELY NO TASTE, NONE.....When steak comes from kitchen it should be flavored, rib eye cut to thin, 1/2 should at least be1 1/4 to 2 inches. rib eye hand bone in which not reflected in menu. Salad only tomatoes and lettuce. Baked potato must have been some off the wall model as is good size but color was dark brown with a slightly off taste. Cafe well appointed. Air conditioning was lacking very badly in the front section, a little better in the backroom.. If steak taste does not improve I don't feel they will be open for long. Just did seem the same people were in charge. you guys get it to. get it together or there my be noting left. GET TASTE BACK INTO THE STEAKS.....YOU ARE ALMOST THERE..

Now I grew up not to far from here. This has been a popular place with locals for years.
Was up for a visit with family. My sister lives up North and her husband loved the look of the place. Decorated in all things Texas..this little place gives you a great small town, good food vibe.
Staff is friendly...no shortage of customers on a Saturday night. Big burgers...amazing chicken fried steak and awesome yummy homemade pies and cobbler...though thumbs down they do not use Blue Bell ice cream....they may need to rethink that.
My husband who knows a good steak only took issue with it not being seasoned.
But if you like a steak just cooked with its own juices how you like it...this is a good place for that.
Just so you know..there are sides that you can order and pay extra for...but all steaks only come with fries....a lot of fries. So it can be costly if you want a salad and replace fries with a baked potatoe.
Still..worth a visit.
