This is a nice little homestead smack dab in the middle of Plano. The people who keep this place going are mainly volunteers and really do a great job. It is most suitable for families with little kids or grandkids. Some farm animals, are available to see up close, and the docents do a great job teaching the kids and adults about the good old days.

An excellent place to take elementary school children for a farm learning experience.

I recently visited The Heritage Farmstead Museum in Plano, Texas. I found it charming and fascinating. Our volunteer tour docent gave one of the best tours we've ever had. All the staff was very welcoming. Thank you to all that are helping to preserve our rural Texas history!

As someone interested in Texas history, I found the place very inaccurate, poorly maintained, and oriented towards young children. There are these pebbles they put down in the walk paths so don't bring a stroller. Its pretty much just a house you can tour. When I asked who lived in the house, I was told that wasn't the subject of the tour - it was about the way "average people" lived 100 years ago. But there was nothing about the sharecroppers who worked there. The furnishings of the mansion made it seem like a family that lived there did the farming - but they didn't. There was a boy's room and a little girl's room - but little boys or girls, I found out, never lived there. Strange. A gruff blacksmith man told us harshly not to touch the animals.
