“Masa for tamales”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

I have been purchasing masa for Christmas tamales at Aparicios for the last several years. The masa I purchased yesterday was hard as a rock. I took it home and attempted to prepare it for tamales. However, I was unable to break it down as a result of its rock hard and dry consistency. I was forced to throw it away. We are now left without our traditional homemade tamales for the holidays. I called Aparicios and they suggested adding water to masa to "fix it." In my 30 plus years of making tamales, I have never had to "add water."

“Great Tex-Mex food with quaint atmosphere”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

This is an old family owned restaurant that started as a small hole in the wall. They expanded the seating area here and essentially rebuilt the place, retaining its atmosphere of a Mexican restaurant. We sat indoors in a booth. On the side, we could see the courtyard and beyond that the Dart train tracks. The food was good, and service was prompt and courteous. They had a few items on the menu that are not found everywhere, such as Chili Relleno, and Chicken Mole.

“Good in the past, poor in the present.”
Reviewed April 20, 2012

I have visited this time multiple times, but will not be back based on past couple of visits. Aparicio's used to be one of the best hole-in-the-wall Mexican resturants in Plano, but not any more.
The salsa is still good, but that is where it ends. The chimi is greasy, the enchiladas are bland.
The staff is horrible. Many of them wear dirty looking clothes and appear as though they were hired off the street corner. Several of the waitstaff are short with you and provide only basic service.

The good: Salsa.
The bad: Everything else.
