“Great Spot!”
Reviewed March 10, 2008

Just returned to Fort Worth after a very nice weekend at the park.
Nice clean facilities with multiple access point to ponds and the lake itself. We stayed at a waterfront site which made for excellent sunrise views and other great views all day long. We were little perturbed by one of the Rangers who expressed some discontent about our timeliness in registering (we had arrived after dark on Friday). Not that he wasn’t right, he just could have handled it a little better. Due to the cold weather and snow that preceded our trip, the park was very empty which made for a great trip.

“Very Nice State Park in East Texas”
Reviewed October 25, 2005

Lake Bob Sandlin is a very well maintained Texas State Park in the Piney woodlands of East Texas. Located about 13 miles S.E. of Mt Vernon just off I30 located on Texas SH 21 and about 100 miles east of Dallas. The first set of campsites (1- 75 or so) are all well shaded and spaced far enough apart so you won't find yourself looking directly at your neighbors for your entire stay. The premium sites are located closer to the lake but not a significant improvement over the others which are equipped with electricity and water. The second group of sites are mostly cabins and enclosures which would be fine for group events. There is also dump station.
There is wildlife, deer, raccoon, armadillo etc... in sufficient abundance that you are likely to encouter them as you hike the 5-6 miles of wooded trails. There is a pond at either end of the park, the second being stocked with trout. The place is great for hiking, biking and fishing. There is a fishing pier and a swimming area, but as of this writing the water was low and the swimming area did not look so inviting. The shoreline of the lake is heavily populated with tree stumps which I'm sure is excellent for bass fishiing.
Overall, my family I was very pleased with their weekend stay and we plan on visiting again soon.
