Excellent Mexican dishes & margaritas. We enjoy going there because of the great service and food quality. They now have patio sitting and today was the perfect weather to enjoy it.

For years, people from all over Denton County have flocked to Ernesto's Mexican Restaurant in Pilot Point for authentic Mexican & Tex Mex Food. Recently, Pedro's Tex Mex opened near the historic Square in Downtown Pilot Point and this Author had to give it a try. The place is small, without decoration, and was crowded the night I visited. Service was pleasant and started off with chips and salsa. The salsa was great. Lots of bursts of flavor. Not too watery, and not too hot. The chips on the other hand were cold, and obviously not fresh. I started off with a margarita on the rocks. It was served in a cheap plastic glass that reminded me of a glass that you would find at Cici's Pizza, and it was so watered down that you couldn't taste any tequila or lime. Disappointing. But the plates that were being served looked great. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce, and my dinner companion ordered the mushroom, cheese and onion covered chicken breast. My enchiladas were dry and sparcely covered with verde sauce. What little sauce came with the enchiladas was great. There just wasn't enough sauce. The waiter apologized and said it was because the cooks squeeze all of the juice out of the chicken after it is cooked so that the enchiladas aren't runny. Maybe the cooks should try the chicken enchiladas that they are serving. On the other hand, the mushroom, cheese and onion covered chicken breast was amazing. The chicken breast was perfectly cooked with lots of smokey flavor. And the mix of cheese and onions were the perfect balance to the chicken breast. Would I come back? Sure. All restaurants have their bad days. I'm hoping that my next visit turns up a better dinner and a better margarita. We will see......
