For those not 'in the know', Pecos, TX is one of several towns supported by the surrounding oilfields. The result of that fact is that everything -literally everything- in this town has artificially inflated prices: fast food, gas, hotels, etc. The oilfields do pay well, but the town takes most of it back.

If you are a casual traveler, you should avoid Pecos for hotel rooms. Van Horn, TX is about an hour and a half to the west and offers hotel rooms for -literally- less than 1/4 the price of a room in Pecos. Even Midland and Odessa to the east have slightly cheaper rooms, but they should also be avoided unless you absolutely have to be in this area in the morning.

I stayed at the Knights Inn - Laura Lodge tonight because my reservation at the Hampton Inn got lost (not sarcasm - absolutely true). I used my 'Go fast' reward from Wyndham to get the room for under a hundred bucks. Nearly every other hotel in town was sold out, and those that weren't wanted at least 250 a night.

Since the hotels in the center of the oilfields cater mostly to the workers of said oilfields, I was expecting ruined carpeting, busted up drywall, and a frightening experience in general.

This was none of that. The carpet was perfect (there was one small spot which looked like it might be wet, but I didn't wonder enough to check it out) the bathroom was quite clean, the beds were clean. There was nothing to indicate that this room might have recently been occupied by a worker who had kicked the mud off his boots or body on the floor or in the shower.

Simply put, this hotel exceeded expectations.

If you have to stay in Pecos (and you have the wallet to do so) this place will deliver.

We could have not picked a better place to stay in Pecos! Bobby and his staff are top notch and take pride in customer service. We rented 6 rooms and everyone was satisfied with their rooms. He has ample parking with the parking lot across the street, which is monitored by several security cameras. Rooms are clean, spacious & recently renovated. And if we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here!

I cannot thank him enough for welcoming us for 2 months.

The family that operates the hotel are super nice and accommodating. The room itself was very clean though outdated. Unfortunately the walls and ceilings are paper thin and there were a lot of local workers coming and going all night long not caring how loud they were. We somehow also missed the train tracks right next to the motel that runs late at night and early in the morning blowing it's horn all the way.

Mr. Billy Trip, thank you for visiting Knights Inn Laura Lodge of Pecos, Texas from Newport, NC. I'm glad you liked our superior service. We strive to accommodate every guest, as our highest priority. This property has been upgraded and has one of the best sound proof systems. Train tracks are out of our control, which sit three blocks away. They are not next to the hotel. Long term guest love our hotel. This place had a very small parking lot. We drive a 1 ton truck. The workers that were remodeling the rooms, stopped us as we were going in and told us there would be some noise, but, they left right after we got there. The room was clean. No places near by to eat, we had to drive out to the highway, and down a few miles to be able to eat, we went to a truck stop. They said there was a breakfast, but, the door was locked to the office, we had to ring a bell to get them to open it, we decided we would go back to the Dennys to eat, which I do not recommend. The pool was drained, and looked like it had not been filled for quite a while.
