“Great value in a small, family-style Italian cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

We've been going to Santa Barbara Italian Café for more than 10 years. It's small, quaint dining room (about a dozen tables) and homemade dishes keeps us coming back. The food is good and the portions are huge. My favorite is the seafood risotto, which comes with grilled shrimp and veggies (see attached photo). It's a staple! My wife usually gets a pasta dish and have a full meal of leftovers the next day. Another great value for a nigh out experience is the "bring your own bottle" feature. You can bring in all the wine you'd like and they only charge between $2-3 per person who's actually drinking as a "corking fee." It's very family friendly but could also me a couple's hotspot. I definitely recommend trying if you're in the Pearland/Manvel/Alvin area.

“NOT impressed.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2014

Tried this place twice. Not impressed with the food on either visit. This has to be the WORST spaghetti I have ever been served. It was inedible. Never again!

“Great food, unskilled waiters. ”

The waiters are young kids who aren't that amazing, but if you can look past it you'll enjoy some amazing food.

“Good food, casual atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014

After reading the mixed reviews here, it was hard to decide to try Santa Barbara or not. Because we aren't Olive Garden fans, we braced ourselves to take a chance.

Believe me, after the reviews, we had a weather eye out for vermin, but we didn't see any signs of that, so maybe the problem is resolved?

It was a Friday night and extremely busy. The service was brisk, but very friendly. We had the bad luck to be sitting next to a large party with children that were being allowed to act like wild animals, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault. It seems they cater to families, but I could see this being a quite place for a couple to dine under different circumstances.

The food was very good, and a VERY fair value due to the portion sizes. They're huge! The bruschetta appetizer was heaped with toppings and was almost as filling as eating pizza. We had the eggplant parm, which is my go-to dish at Italian restaurants. This was among the best I've had -- crisp but not overdone, and so tender it could be easily cut with a fork. The large size was $14,99 and enough for two people to share. Here's the main menu link: http://www.santabarbaraitaliancafe.com/menu.html

We're locals and still had a little trouble finding this place. The large restaurant sign next door tend to overwhelm Santa Barbara's more subtle signage, so you have to look a little more carefully.
