Description: The fresh cookies, pastries, pies and cakes from Naegelin's Bakery are of historic proportions and timeless quality. It's all in the preparation. The Granzin family still uses recipes developed by the Naegelin family during more than a century of experimentation to get the right ingredients. As you walk into the front door of the bakery, the sweet smell of baked foods engulfs you like a warm blanket. The glass cases are full of what seems like an almost endless array of cookies and pastries in a rainbow of colors. The bakery is still famous for their strudels that Naegelin perfected years ago. The Granzin's have added terrific sausage kolaches in addition to the menu of fruit filled kolaches. We suggest you try the popular favorite: the Lebkuche, a thick, rectangular brown cookie covered with pink frosting. Don't forget to try our apple strudel! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Billed as the "oldest bakery in Texas" -- says so on the sign, this is certainly one of the best bakeries in Texas. We bought a bag of pastries that weighed about 5 pounds, which magically transported themselves to our waistlines. Worth every bit of it: cookies, kolaches, fruit strudels, danishes. You name it. No line when we arrived about 1 p.m. Best advice -- eat all you can and take a bag with you.Otherwise that night you will be sitting in some Austin motel wishing you'd thought ahead.

Everything we bought was delicious. It was right across the street to the Faust Hotel which was very convenient. Bought a few items to take home.

We were in town for 6 days and had breakfast here every morning! We tried something new everyday and we were never disappointed with anything! The prices were very reasonable we thought. We also would get something for a nice afternoon snack. We placed a to go order for pick up on our last day and it was ready and waiting for us. I am really going to miss this breakfast! Hope you don't miss it! Expect a line but it moves fast!

This bakery has the best kolaches, pigs in a blanket, and strudels. Always a line out the door but well-worth it!

This is a must try if you are in NB since it is the oldest bakery in Texas. Everything is pretty good, but the German pretzels are amazing. Cookies were dry though.
