“Home Sweet Home”

What a treat to be greeted by Darrell and Margie and welcomed into their B&B! And grandson, William, was as smart and resourceful as a docent or tour guide. He knew the rules of the rivers, restaurants, and activities! A seven year old adult - just precious! The accommodations were so very comfortable you almost forgot to put on your robe to get coffee. Margie gave us the history and Darrell parted with award winning recipes, along with being warm and helpful!! This is not just a summer vacation getaway, but also a winter haven. There are various activities, sports, arts, and festivals in this area all year long. A weekend is just not enough. It's like being at home, only better food and camaraderie! Would be wonderful for a business retreat, family reunion or vacation,

We stay here every time we are in the area. Family run and very friendly, but don't come here if you are allergic to cats. We enjoy them, but not everyone does. The breakfast is a real home cooked breakfast that will keep you going well into the afternoon. The conversation around the breakfast table has always been great. We like the "Room with a View" because of the balcony (shared with the room across the hall). It is a bit cramped and the "queen" bed is two twins pushed together, but the other amenities make up for the small room and crack between the mattresses.

My wife and I took a trip just to get away. The host were very all wonderful, the food great, the location fantastic and met our needs perfectly. Darrell, Margie and Anthony were very hospitable. The original room dating to the early 1800s was very interesting. The expansion using old wood is very well done. I agree with previous readers on how great of a place this is to stay. My wife and I will certainly be coming back for future breaks.

My wife and i recently got away for a short vacation on short notice. I called the Kuebler Waldrip B&B on a recommendation from a co-worker, and they had availability on the days we wanted. My wife was sold as soon as she found out they had numerous cats, as she is indeed a "cat lover" When we arrived we met Darrel, and he showed us around, introduced all the cats, and showed us to our room. We stayed in the East room, upstairs in the old schoolhouse, removed from the main house by about 50-60 yards. A small piece to walk for privacy and intimacy. the room was nice and rustic, and the A/C worked just fine, though the thermostat was actually in another room. My only negative comment about the whole thing was that the shower and toilet were kind of cramped into a small area, but this was not an issue with me.The breakfasts in the the morning were generous and delicious 3 couse selections and were pretty much all you could eat. From the green chile quiche, to the potatoes au gratin, to the cofee cake to the apple tarts and drop biscuits and bacon and sausage and fresh fruit, you will not be disappointed in the breakfast department. Add to that the geneous addition of fresh warm cookies each evening, a delidious dish full of homemade chocolate almond toffee, Shiner Bock , at least 3 different wines, and soft drinks and coffee in the common area, all yours for the taking, and you have a recipe for success. My wife and i stayed up late visiting with other guests and Darrel (the host) and Margi (Darrels mother and owner), and shared several bottles of wine and better yet several stories and learning the history of the inn as well as the area. Margi and Darrel are a wealth of knowledge and great hosts! And, just for kicks, ask Darrel for a glass of milk in a tall frosted mug to go with the fresh baked cookies. He is very accomodating, exemplifying what customer service should be. Thanks Magi and Darrel for a wonderful stay. We will be back,

I fully agree with all comments made by the previous reviewers! My husband and I traveled to this part of Texas for a wedding and were hoping that our online reservation choice of a B&B would be a good one. As soon as we stepped through the front door we knew the answer was a resounding "yes". From that first nanosecond of entry, we felt that the goal of the owners was to make guests feel peaceful, refreshed, and secure...and they succeeded. The setting for this B&B is quiet acreage which spreads in every direction so we felt cocooned even while knowing that "civilization" was just down the road. They have obviously made an art of discovering what makes guests happy as reflected in the freshness and quality/variety of foods served (tasty tamales were a treat), meticulous attention to decorating details (each bedroom has its own theme), gracious and informative conversations (learn colorful facts about local history), being available when needed but always with a discreet presence, and cleanliness literally in every corner, inside and outside (wish I could keep my house in as good a condition). Look no further whether you want a getaway place or if your destination is within driving distance of this jewel of a B&B!

I traveled to Texas recently for a family event. I was delighted to arrive and have such a warm, friendly place to stay. This B&B is tucked away from it all, yet close to everything. I stayed in the Guilbeau Room and woke in the morning to the smell of coffee brewing and breakfast cooking. The full breakfast was served every morning at 9:00 AM, all I can say is don't miss it--amazing! The common area had drinks and snacks available which was an unexpected treat. The owners are gracious, friendly people who go out of their way to make sure your stay is most enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the Kuebler Waldrip Haus and look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: I don't think you could go wrong with any of the rooms available.

Stayed over Spring Break with my daughter. We loved the location. The original parts of the house are truly historic old Texas. The common area has snacks, wine, coffee, sodas, Blue Bonnet ice cream in the freezer and Shiner beer in the fridge. It's minutes away from Guerne, downtown New Braunfels, tubing or Slitterbaum water park. When we came home late it was nice to grab some bottled water from the fridge and homemade chocolate chip cookies for my daughter before settling down for the night. The breakfasts are incredible as well. We hope to return often and stay in different rooms, especially the school house.

Genuine Friendship, Great Food and Texas Hospitality can be found here. The Historic Kuebler Waldrip Haus Bed and Breakfast is a Texas bed and breakfast conveniently located on 43 peaceful acres just 4-6 minutes from Historic Gruene and New Braunfels, 30 minutes to San Antonio, and 45-60 min. to Austin. Enjoy a casual relaxed atmosphere with open spaces, trees, maybe some wildlife and our resident cats. Choose from one of our three beautifully restored buildings. The buildings include DEER HAVEN COTTAGE building (900 sq. Ft.), a cozy 3 bedroom cottage with tile floors, a shower/jacuzzi bath, living room, and kitchen, and sleeps 2-6 guests; the HISTORIC KUEBLER WALDRIP HAUS building (5000 sq. Ft.), an original 1847 German pioneer limestone and timber log home with 5 separate bedrooms each with a private bath; and the HISTORIC DANVILLE SCHOOLHOUSE building (2500 sq. Ft.), an original 1863 one-room Texas schoolhouse with 5 separate bedrooms and 5 private baths. The schoolhouse was named for Daniel Murchison, a Texas Ranger, and moved to our ranch from Solms in Comal County in 1990. It has been restored with the original hardwood floors, chalk board with stage, and it now has 5 separate bedrooms. All of our rooms can be rented separately, and are perfect for a couple, a family with children or a weekday or weekend getaway. Total facilities can sleep a minimum of 22 people up to 33 people. Children welcome from 0-100. HISTORY: The original property was listed under the Veramendi Spanish land grant in the 1800's. The property was owned by a French wine merchant, Francois Guilbeau as an investment, and the main house was built in 1847. It was then owned by Andreas and Katherine Pape of Hanover, Germany who built the main house in 1847. The second family was Willie and Olga Kraft and children, and they owned the property from 1900 until 1974. In 1974, Margy and Larry Waldrip and their three sons, Dibrell, Darrell and David bought and moved the property, and they have lovingly restored the Kuebler Waldrip Haus building to its present state.
