This is not a good place to stay and I totally wish that I would have checked trip advisor before booking this place. The beds are the creakiest, nosiest beds I have ever slept in. They are at least 20 years old. The tile floors turned our feet black after walking around for just a few minutes. Needless to say, they don't mop the floors very often. The toilet wasn't securely fastened to the floor. The bath towels were the size of hand towels.

The people who stay there to float the river completely trashed the area around our room. Beer cans were all over the ground as well as fast food trash. We paid $495 for 3 nights and I feel like we were totally ripped off. We will not stay at this place ever again.

Checked in on Friday 6/20/14. The tiny room they put us in for $160 a night had no fridge or microwave and the grounds around were overgrown. We were then move right upstairs to another room and the toilet leaked water everywhere. They moved us again. The 3rd room was bigger but one of the beds had a giant crater in the middle of it so the next morning me and my husband both were very sore and again the toilet leaked. I told management about the bed and they did replace the bed for us to stay the second night. We were very disappointed to have spent so much money! We decided to stay another night....but somewhere else. I would never recommend this place to anyone....just poorly taken care of and for the cost we exepcted so much better. Payed 109.00 at the Super 8 and it was way better!

I LOVE THE GRUENE OUTPOST!!!! The river trips used to be so hectic until we started staying here! IT is just so convenient, they run a shuttle from the lodge and you get your tube from them as well. They have multiple float options (we always go on the long float so we are out of the city limits!) Honestly every time we have stayed here we always feel like VIPs because they always seem to go out of there way to make sure we are having an Awesome time! The facilities are great and they never rush you to check out. If you want to have a great time at the river and not have to worry about anything stay here!!! Also Billy's Ice house is right next door, great music and cold beer!

Room Tip: if you are with a group or with kids get the river view room, it has a small kitchen with stove.

The rooms are nasty. Simply put. We had room 183. The mattress was probably 20 years old and had a HUGE crater in the middle of it. I shared the bed with my fiancé and we both rolled into the middle of the bed all night long. I woke up SO stiff both nights we stayed.

The fold out futon was as hard as concrete. Unless you are a 6 year old and weigh 50 lbs. there is no way possible you could sleep on it without breaking your back.

The kitchen was dingy with old appliances. The bathroom was nasty. The toilet wasn't firmly attached to the floor. The vanity was gross. Mismatched furniture. The children thought the TV was vintage, I had to explain what an old CRT was....

This property is gross.

I will give kudos to the management staff for working with us to secure a second room (there was no way we were going to cram 6 people in that port-o-potty for a second night). The management staff was VERY courteous and sympathetic with us. They worked with us on the price, but in the end..... Even the best customer service couldn't overcome the grossness of this place.

It is really a shame that this property is so run down and in bad need of some money to be put in to the place. For the price they charge, they can certainly afford to do some maintenance and updating. The beds are terrible, bathtubs, carpets, walls all need updating.
Really a shame, because the location is beautiful with nice shade trees.
We will not be back here, nor would I recommend it to anyone, unless they do some major remodeling.
For the same price, there are much nicer condos on the river in New Braunfels.

We were going to stay July 2nd through July 5th. We checked out after 1 night due to all the following: the room was a sauna when we arrived (don't enter bathroom you would've had a heat stroke), there are old style box tv's with mostly Spanish channels, the photos online are NOT what it really looks like. We decided to try to make the best of it and then we found the real problems. The toilet is not level, so it makes a thump when you get up because it falls, the mattress is probably 20yrs old and creaks, groans, and is broken in the middle, and is extremely uncomfortable(we didn't get any sleep), the wifi doesn't work(it continuously disconnects), there is only 1 grill for 16 rooms, the a/c was so clogged it took 3hrs for the room to cool down(we had to peel the ac cover off in order to even feel cold air and we had to cover the windows), trains run at 4am, 5:45am, and 6:30am. If you stay in either of the 2 cabins by the office there is an extremely steep hill all the way down to the river, so 8 months pregnant, it took me 15 minutes to climb the hill to get back to my room. I would've swam in the pool but it was green and closed. The BUSIEST time for swimming it was slimy and closed. We will NEVER come back. The checkin girl was polite.

We loved the location, but the place needs lots of work. Management makes no effort to maintain the place. Over grown weeds everywhere. Rooms that don't match the photos. Poor access to the river only because they don't even try keeps the weeds down No kitchen supplies in the room. For the prices, there are much better options around.

Come on down and enjoy our laid-back, family owned river lodge in New Braunfels along the beautiful banks of the Guadalupe River. The Lodge is a place to let your hair down, relax, grab a cold beer and enjoy exciting activities on the river, from kayaking to tubing and rafting. Play a game of volleyball, dive into the sparkling swimming pool, or play video games on the big screen in our clubhouse. If none of that strikes your fancy, head to historic Gruene for some local shopping, enjoy our Texas flavors or people watch with a glass of Texas wine under the trees. Don't forget to check out Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. Later in the afternoon, back at The Lodge, relax in a hammock under the canopy of pecan and black oak trees. As night falls, the fireflies let you know that it is time for a campfire, s'mores and maybe a ghost story.
