Interesting

This is a local museum, not a fancy building. It is right in downtown New Braunfels, so you can... read more

My son (8yr) and I went here because he really likes trains. The docent have a mini tour of the building and the history behind the museum. There was a model train inside that ran on its own with really cool figurines. T his is a nice place to stop by if your already in the area. I drive down from San Marcos so it wasn't far and Landau Park if right down the street and this place is always fun especially in the spring and summer.

This is a great place to visit especially for adults and little kids. We took our grandsons after going to the fall train show and it was perfect to be able to see both model triains and to go in a real caboose, dining car, engine and boxcar. It was free (although they definitely accept donations). Wonderful place to visit.

It’s very small but it’s a pretty neat little place. My kids enjoyed going on a real train but really enjoyed watching the model trains rolling around and as an added bonus it’s free. All in all if you have a little free time stop by and check it out.

If you like trains ( and what kids don't) stop by for an hour or two. Parking in the rear as well as on the street. Check out the engines and dot forget the caboose,

This museum has a lot of interesting railroad memorabilia and gives some good historical information about railroading in the region. In addition, New Braunfels has an active model railroading club and they have several impressive layouts of electric trains in the museum showcasing various gauges. The museum guides are also very knowledgeable and ready to talk trains for as long as you are willing!

There is an old boxcar which doubles as a room for museum exhibits, an old steam-powered switcher you can actually get into, a caboose, and a Pullman Dining car. All of which are accessible to the adventurous.

I recommend this to anyone who loves trains - young and old.
