Description: This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. If you are ever in the area, it's worth the trip to check out the history that's behind this popular location. You better come early, standing room only is a common sight here.

“Best onion rings in town!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2010

Clear Springs has the best onions rings in town hands down. Montana mikes is close, but CS has them beat. The portions are huge. A small order will feed 2 or 3 people! The catfish and shrimp are an excellent choice. As for the atmosphere, it has a great story. Check out the history when you get a chance. The place was a barn at one time, and is very open to the top rafters. It has lots of antiques hanging from the ceilings and walls to read and look at while you dine. Get there early on Friday nights or you will have to wait outside at the bar for a table for an hour or so. Casual dining at its best!

“Not a fan”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2009

I ordered mahi mahi, and it came out very dry and overcooked. I guess they're famous for their onion rings. They were pretty good. But I was with a large group of people and I didn't hear one person say anything good about their meal.

“Go for two things...the building and the rings!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2009

Clear Springs Cafe is located in a really old wooden dancehall in Clear Springs, Texas...right between New Braunfels and Seguin on Highway 46. The atmosphere is a blast from the past. There is a lot of seating here, and there has to be. The place is wildly popular with locals and tourists alike.

The food is good, but what Clear Springs is known for are their onion rings. You can make a meal of them, and I would recommend it! The servings are very generous.

Service can be a bit erratic at times, and when the sign says incomplete parties will not be seated, they are not kidding! Be prepared to wait on Friday and Saturday nights, when it can get a bit noisy as the crowds grow.

Everyone should think of Clear Springs when they get a hankering for a brew and for onion rings, and for some of that old time dancehall atmosphere.

Best darn onion rings I ever tasted...this is my must 'go-to' place when visiting Clear Springs/New Braunfels, Texas. My first margarita made with wine and it was delicious!

Please don't change - I'll be coming back....SOON!
