Description: This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. If you are ever in the area, it's worth the trip to check out the history that's behind this popular location. You better come early, standing room only is a common sight here.

Great seafood. Lots of tasty combinations. Onion rings appetizer not to be missed and save room for dessert.

“Night for Catfish”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

Jan 4th we enjoyed a fantastic Catfish Fry Dinner. The fish was done to perfection. We had fried onion rings also and they were also great along with the beer. The service was top notch, friendly and went out of there way to take care of us. The serving size is really large and is almost to much to eat in one setting. We had to have a to go box for all the extra food. The restaurant is in an old Dance Hall with the original wood floors and all kinds of antiques on the walls and Ceilings. We will be going back.

“A Great Place for Fish & More!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

After picking up a sister-in-law at the Austin airport my wife and I, along with her brother, decided we needed to eat before traveling on to Ingelside,TX. My brother-in-law suggested we stop at Clear Springs Restaurant in New Braunfels, TX for some really great fried shrimp & fish. This restaurant has a wonderful ambience and the service was great! We were not disappointed as the combination plates with fried fish & Gulf shrimp were delicious! The portions were very large and the Gulf shrimp were huge & fresh! Of course the onion rings are a house specialty and a half order satisfied all four of us! This is a must for enjoying great seafood and fish in true Southern style!

“Creat venue, good service, average food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

Located in a historic old dance hall just east of downtown. Friendly, efficient service. We had fried fish, shrimp & oysters. Food was ok, nothing special but a little dry and overcooked. Served with fries, coleslaw & hush puppies.. Second visit but wouldn't go out of the way to go back.

“SUPERB CATFISH, etc. World's best ONION RINGS!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

A MAGNIFICENT experience where the atmosphere will blow your socks off, the service is exceptional, and the food is the best you can ever expect. We LOVED this place. From the time you enter you are looking around at all the mementos and antiques around you. The catfish was the best I have ever eaten, fresh, well spiced, tasty, and not at all "muddy" in taste. It was EXCEPTIONAL. The shrimp was equally delicious. DO NOT FORGET ONION RINGS! I truly believe they are the best anywhere. Be careful not to order the Texas Size unless you have over 4 people at your table. It is ENORMOUS! OVERALL, A WONDERFUL RESTAURANT and EXPERIENCE!
