Description: This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. If you are ever in the area, it's worth the trip to check out the history that's behind this popular location. You better come early, standing room only is a common sight here.

I ordered the grilled shirmp, it was cold in the middle and lacked any flavor. My green beans were clearly out of a can and tasted like they were just warmed up. Corn was ok but was out of a can too. The onion rings were large but nothing out of this world. We where hoping for a much better meal but will just stick with the Gristmill when in New Braunfels.

Clear Springs Cafe is a great place for lively food and a festive atmosphere. After a long day at the river, it is the perfect place to have a great meal. While they have a large well rounded menu, the fresh fried catfish is an all time favorite. The atmosphere is wonderfully casual, as the restaurant is set in a repurposed cotton warehouse which was once a dance hall where many Texas staples, such a Willie Nelson, once performed. Treat yourself to the onion rings, relax and have a great meal!

New Braunfels has plenty of chain restaurants and we always try to go local. Based off a recommendation of a friend who grew up in San Antonio we went on a Friday night about 6. Shortly after our party of 9 arrived the place started to have a line. The atmosphere is fun with the farm meets lodge vibe and the food completely worth going for. From the fried pickles and Texas Tower onion rings to the Creamy Spicy Crawfish Chowder I enjoyed it was all enjoyable. The service is friendly and the sweet tea just keeps coming. Though we had a large party the food came out quickly and the portions huge. My wife ordered the "small" catfish and the plate still could have fed 2 people, wouldn't want to see the "large." For the money you get a lot of great food! This place is a winner. We will be coming back.

Great fried catfish, shrimp, onion rings. Unique decor in an old cotton mill building. Always busy, so prepare to wait.

I really love going to Clear Springs when we are in New Braunfels. The food is not gourmet, but just good country cooking. Service is always friendly and the old building lets you know your in Texas.
