Description: This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. If you are ever in the area, it's worth the trip to check out the history that's behind this popular location. You better come early, standing room only is a common sight here.

The catfish is wonderful, the iced tea plentiful and good and the onion rings excellent!

“Crowded, but worth the wait”
Reviewed March 31, 2012

This restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere. I usually order the fried catfish poboy which is delicious. On this occasion I ordered the chicken fried chicken for the first time with mashed potatoes and pinto beans on the side. They were out of corn. It was delicious. My husband got his usual blackened catfish meal, which he always loves. On this particular day service wasn't great, but the food is GREAT!

“Quaint old time atmosphere bench seating”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

Great Onion Rings and lots of them get a small order for 4. Order more if you need them afterwards but you won't. Great Catfish all served on paper plates bench seating often share tables, plastic hardware. Not your romantic night out but with friends for fried food and good fellowship can't be beat. Service is normally good especially considering how busy they normally are.

“These Onion Rings are somethin' else!!!”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

I should have just had the onion rings - those alone were a fantastic indulgence of fried food that I suddenly found myself eating without thought.

The catfish was great as well!

Here's the tip for you: If you don't like fried food? This isn't the place for you. Clear Springs is about some serioulsy delicious fried food! Come here to eat, not to ask for the "figure friendly" choices. This is Texas - it's how you do it when you're there.

Loved it here!
