A nice change from the normal. The shrimp tacos were delish! Try this! Good burger and grest fries. Will do again.

We recently went to this small ecclectic restaurant on their all day Happy Hour Wednesday. We used our 1/2 off coupon and really weren't expecting anything great. Other than the long wait and slow service (we weren"t the only people taking advantage of the specials) , we had some of the best Mexican food we have had in a long time. The $3.00 margaritas were very good too. My wife had the chicken flautas, which were large, crispy, and filled with very flavorable moist chicken. I had the cheese enchiladas which were tasty and creamy with a good chile meat sauce. The charro beans were good and the spanish rice was really special, not like the bland samo you get with most mexican plates. So our experience was a real treat at this very unassuming place. If you're in Gruene and want some good Mexican food ,try them out.

Small, funky little Tex-Mex restaurant with bright colors, shaded deck and tree covered area with tables in back, and a bit of a barroom smell - I'm talking about the unpleasant remnants of over indulgence. We managed to get past that and try some of the $3.00 margaritas that were offered for happy hour. Not bad, not really good, about what you'd expect for the money.

We ordered a couple of shrimp tacos to go and were pleased with the results when we got home and peeled back the foil . . nicely grilled shrimp with avocado hunks, a lime wedge and a choice of red or green salsa. Not bad for $3.25 a piece.

I would probably go back after sufficient time has passed and the place has had a chance to air out a bit assuming no further chugging contests have occurred.

This place is terrible, and surprising to see good reviews. We had the enchilada plate, and figured it couldn't be that hard to make. My wife loves refried beans, enchiladas, and we thought it would be nice to find a new spot. We were way off...The beans were terrible, and they put what tasted like wolf brand chili on the enchiladas as a sauce. It tasted more like a chili cheese coney from sonic. The food overall had that out of the can taste despite the manager saying all of the food was fresh. Additionally it was discouraging to see the drink station outside covered in bees, and the poorly cleaned tables, chairs, and common areas. If the outside looked like that imagine the kitchen.

My husband and I spent a weekend in Gruene in Sept. 2012. We had a wonderful time and a truly relaxing couple of days. One of the highlights was a little restaurant named Cantina Del Rio. It's not the fanciest, not the most expensive and not the one that offers the widest variety of dishes. However, it does have two menu items that are exceptional! We split an order of fajitas. OMG! The best! Their green sauce is to die for. While in line to order, several folks mentioned how good their fish tacos are. We thought, what the heck? Why not? This tilapia taco has coleslaw on it. It sounds strange but it is just awesome. The people were great and we had a few piña coladas as well. Great value compared to the other places in Gruene. Don't miss it!
