“Wonderful Place to Stay!!”
Reviewed July 28, 2010

We arrived July 23 around midday. Check in was super easy and we had 2 really good sites with lots of shade trees on the cliff side (23 &24 if I remember right). We were informed that the gates would lock @ midnight on Friday and Saturday, but if we happened to get locked out we could park at the camp store (which by the way everything there was priced extremely reasonable), and walk to our sites. Security drove around until midnight atleast patrolling the place. The showers were pretty good for camping if you ask me. The floors were dirty, but there was people going in and out with dirty shoes on, so what else would you expect? The shower was $1 for 5 or 6 minutes. We have stayed at other places before, and would definitely recommend this place over them for sure. We paid $35 a night per site, which came with electricity and water hook ups. That covered 2 people per site, and it was only $10 per person per night after that. It was well worth the $. We will definitely go back next year, and plan on reserving early enough to camp by the water!! :)

I have been staying at KL Ranch Camp for the last 21 years and it is definetly one of the nicest campgrounds to stay in that is right on the river. The people who complain about the bathrooms or the tubers are very much premadonnas. First of all, as far as the campground goes, the bathrooms are fine. Everyday that I have been there, I saw someone cleaning the restrooms. This is not a 5 star hotel, it's a campground and a very busy campground at that. Also, If you have tubers coming by talking with fowl langauge, then say something. It's not the fault of the campground. I have stayed at several different campgrounds on the river, and this is by far the best of them. Jeff H. from Forney, TX

We stayed for 3 nights, the prices are outrageous. My mom and dad had a travel trailer and we stayed with them, they paid 105 and we paid 120 and we didn't even have a trailer. This is supposed to be a family campsite, sorry its not. Quiet time is 11-7, our neighbors were up until 330 in the morning blaring there music and drinking and talking loud, we got no rest, this went on every night. Just not with them it was all thru the campsite and they didn't do anything to control it. The campers next to us had 2 trailers on one site with like 5 tents and 20 people. They are so money hungry that they were cramming people in and they blocked our vehicles in and we would have to get them to move just to leave. The bathrooms, are horrific, the showers are disgusting and it doesn't look like they clean them at all oh and they charge you to use there filthy showers, the commodes are gross and there is no soap or dryers to wash your hands. They don't mow or weedeat along the river bank and we had a huge rat come out in the daylight while we were sitting at our campsite. All in all we will be looking elsewhere next year until they improve this campsite.

I have been on the river for 25 years and this was the most disappointing trip ever. We made reservations for KL Ranch camp on river rd. along the Gaudalupe River. for 3 nights. We arrived at noon and made our way into the gates down the un-paved dusty dirt road to our site. We made camp in site 94 and parked parallel to the river. We arrived on Saturday expecting the river to be full of tubers and it was. Drunk dirty mouthed tubers with no regaurd to families with children attempting to ignore the offensive language and indecent exposure. There are no full hook-ups and the worst part are the bathrooms. They are stinking dirty and run down. The campsites are full everyday of the week all summer they are making a killing and are not doing anything to improve the camping area. Most of the sites are not shaded and no effort to water the tender trees trying to survive. We showered from our outside utility shower and found that more appealing than the dirty bathrooms. Apon returning from dinner at 11;00 one night from Gruene, we found the gates locked and we could not get back into our campsite. This was an oversight we later learned there was a sign posted stating we must return to our campsite no later than 10;30 or the gates would be locked. After driving around for sometime trying to find someone to open the gate a young man came down in let us in,but not before reminding us of the rule in a disrespectful manner. I have never been locked into any camping area or been given a curfew, I don't think that's safe to be locked in. We left a day early disappointed, I know they are making money on the river and it saddens me that people are that greedy to not make any improvements with their profits. The river and terrain are beautiful I hope for rain for the river to fill the banks and for New Braunsfels to clean up the drunks. I'll go back another time to another place but not KL untill they change.

I have been camping for a very long time and will never go back to KL Ranch Campground. They failed to put on their website that there is a charge for the showers. The bathrooms were so nasty that I never went in them - (thank goodness we were in a travel trailer), we were informed that the sites were close together but little did we know that they were so close that if our neighbors whispered we would have been able to hear them. Our site #71 was very shady and very close to the water so that was a good thing. The campsites are so close to the River Road that you could hear traffic all hours of the night. My husband was trying to avoid the speed bumps when he was taking our dump tote to the dumpstation and was told to stay on the road and don't go on the grass - needless to say you really couldn't see the grass for all the cars that were parked on it. There were so many people at some of the sites that the cars were overflowing all over and it was hard to travel down the road to the dump station. Speaking of the dumpstation - it was literally a hole in the ground that had a concrete lid covering - it was very nasty and unsanitary. When we rented a tube, we had a $20.00 deposit put on our credit card even though the lady was only supposed to take our card number down and not charge the card - when we inquired about this, she said that the amount would be credited back to our card - it still has not been credited. All in all we had an OK time but we definitely would not come back to KL Ranch. Their website really looks alot better than it does in person. We were very disappointed and would have tried to get our money back but there is a no refund policy. I hope that this review is helpful for other campers that want to travel to New Braunfels. I don't know if all the campsites around that area are like KL Ranch but I hope there are better ones to choose from.

Stayed for 3 days / 2 nights at K &L at sites 110/111 on the river. Awesome sites, great shade, small sandy area making it easy to get in and out of the river and the kids had fun right there too. Just across from the sites is a shallow rock ledge, you can wade out about chest high and it comes right back up to waist deep, at that point there's a ledge just big enough to sit on (partially submerged) and just watch the tubers or drink a cold beverage. We had a large number of people and had plenty of room with 2 sites, even though it was a little rocky,we slept well. I have mt reservations in for 1 trip again this year and possibly working on a second. This was the 3rd year in a row we had been and one change you need to be aware of is that if you use their shuttle you can't bring your own tubes, you have to buy theirs. I think they should cut their campers some slack on that one..... Anyway, great trip and I have my sites picked out for as long as I can still camp/

We stayed two nights, July 25 and 26th 2008. Loved how we could see pics of the sites on the internet then call and reserve. We had tent site 54. Very shady and a great view of the river. Slightly sloped ground. Close to store and restrooms/showers! Store had a good selection of items which we took advantage of. Tube rental and shuttle right there. Security on property and local police took prompt care of some rebel rousers. We'll go again!
