“DISAPPOINTING SECOND VISIT FOR MY SEVEN YEAR OLD!!!”

McKenna Children's Museum
Attraction details
Reviewed March 16, 2011

This was our second visit to McKenna Children's Museum as my son loved this museum approximately two years ago. Unfortunately, he wanted to go back to play on the train exhibit but the toys were dirty and not replaced for the missing pieces that have walked off with prior visitors. He, also, wanted to visit the outside water feature which he truely remember to be tons of fun. Now the exhibit has no water pressure, no interative toys have been replaced that go with the exhibit and when an employee was asked about the situation the answer was "we do what we can". WOW! The Museum has one complete empty room with a pictured canvas in it to find "micro" worms on it. The announcements during the day were muffled so we had no idea what was going on for events and frankly did not even bother to find the room to go make the shamrock necklace craft. Suggestions: Take a look at your museum as a child and see what needs to be replaced so that the kids can have a good time. Take a look at this web site. There aren't many reviews good or bad....That can't help with business. Lastly, take a look at what other museums are doing. We visited a great Child Musuem in Anahiem that was so interactive we could have spent two days there. Thanks. G. M. in San Antonio

This museum used to be a great place to take my grandson, but the last visit was very diappointing. Everything was broken; nothing worked. There was no traveling exhibit. It was a rip off of our entrance fees. I can't believe that they have let the museum run down like it is now. I would not recommend this to any one.

My 10 and 6 yo boys love going to this museum. There is alot of different themes and areas to play in. Our favorites are the grocery store, the NASA space rocket and the bank/ATM. They also have an outdoor area where they like to paint the car (VW Bug) and play with the large water table. If you very young children, there is a special area designated just for them. The museum is a great place for a birthday party too.

The McKenna Childrens Museum is located in a new, modern building on West San Antonio Street in New Braunfels, Texas, an attractive city to the northeast of San Antonio. Admission is $7.50 per person. The exhibits, which are all on one floor, are hands-on and educational. There is a miniature supermarket where kids can choose groceries, place them in a cart and take them to check out at a cash register. A make believe hospital shows how patients are cared for and teaches the importance of good health. You can go into space in a rocket ship and stand under several lamps that make different lights and sounds. Outside is a water play area. It's a fun time for kids and worth visiting.

The McKenna Children's Museum is nice for kids, is very modern with plenty of hands-on exhibits even though overall it is kind of small. The Museum offers some other activities but getting the workers to start on time is often like pulling teeth, they are often late or will just skip their scheduled activity altogether, which is surprisingly unprofessional considering how modern the museum seems. It is still fun for the younger kids even if the Art or Garden Times are missed.
